Mass Effect 3

So, it's less than 3 weeks until the Mass Effect trilogy comes to an end (subject to inevitable spin offs), anybody excited for this? I would be, but the car crash that was DA2 has me worried.

The demo is out, let me know if you want to plan any MP on PC this weekend.

Blimey I hadn't realised it was coming out so soon. Will have to pull out ME and ME2 over the next couple of weeks to compile a playthrough to import to ME3.

I can't see that they can make as much of a mess of it as DA2. The original DA was clearly not a console-friendly game so they wanted to make the interface more usable on a console; they don't have that problem with the Mass Effect franchise. ME2 was already a lot more of an FPS than the original, so they will probably go a bit more in that direction.

The demo seems very RPG-lite with two choices in each dialogue portion but hopefully that's just the demo.

I cannot wait, it's going to be ruddy brilliant.

I'll have another run through of ME2 soon - try and get a perfect ending as a good guy (If I have time maybe even the worst ending as a bad guy too). The best I've done was keeping everyone bar Legion and Grunt alive, and the worst was only keeping Tali, Miranda and Jacob in one piece.

Ive never played any of them, are they any good?

They are good if you like silly sci-fi space operas with a bit of RPG and cover-based shooting. As long as you don't take the story too seriously they are good fun, the first has slightly janky combat (which the second VASTLY improves upon) so you could miss that one and read the wikipedia for the story, the second one is a decent enough shooter with some RPG elements and its pretty good.

I do want to have a stupid badass run where everyone is dead apart from Shepherd, Joker and Grunt if possible

My Xbox has deleted my ME2 save (well I must have done it accidentally) and I've sold my copy.

How annoying.

When is ME3 out?

I really enjoyed the first two so hopefully this won't disappoint.

They're epic. Brilliant story, great characters, fun gameplay...

It's like gaming's equivalent to Star Wars (except cooler)

The demo seems very RPG-lite with two choices in each dialogue portion but hopefully that's just the demo.

I'm not touching either demo as I don't want anything spoilt

Also, if you're on PS3 and looking to catch up, the first game isn't on PS3, but at the start of the second one you can go through a funky interactive comic book thing and make decisions at key points which then influence ME2 as if you had played through the first

Demo is RPG-lite as it is only one game mode.

EA have 3 game modes in the game I believe; one of the modes takes out the majority of RPG elements and focuses on the action of the story instead.

My PS3 got YLOD with my ME2 save on it, massively dampened my enthusiasm for this. As the 3rd is meant to reflect so many of your choices.

But this week i've managed to reflow the GPU & CPU and got it working again, and most importantly done a back up of my HDD. So looking forward to this again, can't wait. :)

I'm only just playing the first one on the eggbox and I'm enjoying it so far despite the ropey combat and frame rate issues. :moo:

ME2 is my favourite game of this generation so I've got big hopes for this one

Does anybody know if there is a way to "undelete" things that you may have inadvertently deleted from your Xbox hard drive?

Really looking forward to ME3 (mind you I also really enjoyed DA2  ). Comes out the day after my birthday - not playing the demo as I don't want to see any of the game in advance, will preorder next week when I get paid.

The hype for one of the year's hottest video games, Mass Effect 3 (out March 6, on PS3, Xbox 360 and PCs, ages 17-up) is reaching new stratospheric heights.

In case you don't know, a playable demo has already hit Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

But next week, a select intrepid few will have the opportunity to play the full game before it hits stores. Publisher Electronic Arts will be launching copies of the game into space using weather balloons that will be released in New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris.

Each game has a GPS tracking device onboard and fans can track their return to the Earth on masseffect.com to find a copy and play it a week or more before the game hits stores. (Might not be a bad idea to follow @MassEffect, either.)

Mad marketing idea.
