Can't help thinking there might be a vacancy in the PR dept at Old Trafford. Utd have been dealt some cards and they've played every single one badly.

I'm going to assume that they know he is a **** but as they are only concerned with the money that is what is driving them forward at the moment an they are trying every trick in the book. Now they are claiming there is evidence not in the public domain that they are considering. One can only assume that they believe that evidence somehow justifies what we already know.

Yep. Read it will cost them around £7m to pay his contract up (they can’t terminate it, they appear to have no grounds to do so - I suspect that’s what their ‘investigation’ was trying to come up with) so their supposed inclination to take him back is largely commercial, and not based on ‘reading the room’.

I do find it interesting to hear so many experts views on here about this subject .

If a young man has made a mistake and has been forgiven / taken steps to improve himself then I think they deserve another chance but like I say , we don’t know it all so it’s speculation

What is disturbing is that it appears Glazers/Arnold have cynically tried to engineer his return and were waiting for a ‘Good day to bury bad news’ opportunity.

That they had put together a list of expected sympathetic and hostile reporters/pundits/institutions shows the amount of time and effort that has got into this orchestrated and stage managed event.

Remember, according to Rick Parry and the others behind Project Big Picture, control of the game should have been handed to the Glazers, FSG, Abramovich & a few self selecting others, whilst the likes of the Albion (and Palace) would not have had votes on key decisions over the game.

Afraid I don't agree, this isn't about the £7m, it's about his actual value which is considerably more. That's the course they should be taking and they should do it in the knowledge that he isn't going to get a club in UK to take him on so he wouldn't be competing against him. I don’t agree. There are innocent mistakes, like forgetting to take the bin out. Then there are mistakes with consequences…

I will check that out, I think I’ve seen some of those.

Luckily police can still make an arrest and prosecute without the victim’s support and of course if we witness it ourselves, which we often do, we can detain the suspect and support a prosecution.

However, this has very little impact on ongoing abuse.


In fact on more than one occasion we have detained a male abuser, the partner has turned on us and both of them have ended up being arrested. If they do not demonstrably and loudly object to the abuser being arrested or questioned and not appear to be on their side, things will be horrendous for the victim when the abuser is released from custody. It’s gutting to watch.

Every job we attend has its own peculiarities but all of them are depressingly similar.

I am genuinely shocked they've let him go. Not because he deserved to be given a chance at redemption (because he doesn't) but because all signs were pointing to it going the other way.

However, one wonders if this would have been the outcome were it not for Adam Crafton of the Athletic grabbing hold of United's PR missteps and holding on to them like a dog with a bone.
