It looked fine to me when I looked? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
Hard to tell from a quick tour via Google street view, I guess. Just didn't look like the sort of area that lent itself to pavement drinking outside bars that you associate with a city like Marseille.

Not that I wouldn't absolutely love to be going and am jealous of those that are!

Theyā€™re not conditions, itā€™s in a ā€œTravel Guideā€ ergo itā€™s ā€œguidanceā€.

Which is a useful distinction because I note there is a warning about the pickpocketing risk in Marseille, and the ā€œguidanceā€ requests visiting fans to take ā€œprecautionsā€.

The very next bit of ā€œguidanceā€ however infers visiting fans should carry their passport at all times.

I laughed out loud at this bit and decided all the guidance must be a load of old bollox.

I will however take standard precautions whenever Iā€™m abroad and keep my passport (and other valuables) safe by not carrying it round with meā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦not because of pickpocketing but because I will be on the sauce all day, including down in the old port.

Only imbeciles would go drinking all day (whether in France or England for that matter) with their passports!
The French have to carry ID cards, so it is expected English carry passports as ID

Your adventure could end up in a place like this: It still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, 13 years later. Enjoy yourselves.
It's funny, when a big British club gets to the Europa final, I am relatively indifferent as to how they get on. It really is shrug meh time. And if it's the Old Firm or Chelsea, I am pleased when they lose.

But when Boro got there and then Fulham (especially with Zamora playing), I found myself roaring them on in my living room. (Probably wouldn't do that with Boro anymore, mind)

It's the accumulation. Can't seem to get a train that runs on time anymore. Flights often fooked. And what's the excuse for the cancelled flight , sick air traffic controllers?!? This didn't happen back in the day.

Oh look it's happened again. Gatwick. Useless.

What time are you getting in? I've hired a car, just me and my youngest who's going to be sick so can't go to school Thursday/Friday that week. Off to montpellier area the day after the match though.

Got my outfit sorted for Marseille. If anyone wants to have a chat Iā€™ll be dressed like this in the Old Port (Vieux Port) area on the day of the game.

Sure. Could you wear a red carnation and have a copy of The Guardian under your arm so I can recognize you?

If I had written this, I wouldn't have used that word:

They (the Albion) didn't. They copy and pasted that paragraph, and most of what we've been told, from the Spurs communication to their fans last year...

Yes, I saw that earlier, still the wrong word to use imo whoever wrote it.

Out of interest, what's your issue with the choice of word? 'Ensure' does literally mean to guarantee something....which is wrong I guess. But I get the gist of what they're saying.

Yeah, but the stinkers also eat snails and frogs legs but that donā€™t mean we have to do that too!

The club also ask for passports and drivers licence to collect your away ticket if your selected to collect from the ground. I have never taken either to get my ticket, I have no intention of going on the piss anywhere in the U.K. or abroad with my passport. Worst advice ever.

The club said take precautions to prevent light garlicy fingers from picking your pocket. That is good advice so I wonā€™t have my passport on me.

Best of British to those that doā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦
