I wouldn't mind him personally, he's an experienced striker with a good footballing brain, he may not bang in 20 a season but we've other strikers too. He's also strong and with his experience and Macca's good eye for goal then maybe it'd be a decent partnership.
At first I thought WHAT! but then I realised that you were joking......

He was awful but Stones (making his debut I believe - should have been sent off) and Gonzalez were even worse.

Stones is only a kid though, I think he'd have been sent off if he was a more experienced player but the referee felt sorry for him.

Gonzalez was just crap, which we already knew, but Harewood was not only crap, but he didn't even try for most of the game. He was an insult to the travelling Barnsley fans.

If I was a Barnsley fan watching him today I would not want him at the club anymore.

0 effort looked totaly disinterested.

Absolute Pony!

Could have sworn I wrote on here when the OP was made. Shocking at Villa when he was with us....happy he never found his way to Brighton. I mean he was playing in the Chinese League 1.....that says it all really IMO

As I came out of the West Stand after the game, MH was standing on his own by the wall. It was around the same time the Barnsley bus leaving, instead of getting on it, he walk back to Bennett's Field with another guy. They jumped into a white BMW 5-Series GT and drove off. Might be a whole load of reasons for it, but it struck me as an "I'm better than all of you" attitude from an (admittedly good in his prime) ex-Premier League player.

In addition, for some unknown reason I said "Well played, Marlon" as I passed him. I'm sure he really appreciated it!

Last year's "Amex awful lump of the year" award went to John Carew - Marlon is a very strong contender for this season's.

This about sums his performance last Saturday, and this is why we must NOT entertain buying just any old striker as I seen some suggest on other threads.

Most disinterested striker I've seen at the Amex since Nicky Maynard last season. Don't think he did one positive thing all game.

In fairness he did make a couple of moves towards the ball in the first half - not sure he was that involved in the second.......... which reminds me that I see Chris Holroyd has returned to non-league on loan to Macclesfield Town

He was utterly woeful on Saturday :lolol:

He looked too lazy to carry anything, even a knock.

Which begs the question, what on earth made me say "well played" to him? I think we could be seeing a few ex-top players of that ilk perform like that. It's as if they're after their last big pay day, but can't be arsed to up sticks to MLS, and they don't command the interest of the megabucks Chinese teams.

On that note, interesting to see Drogba and Anelka might be sold because of an equity dispute of some sort. Maybe Stat Brother's prediction will come to something after all!
