Apparently Newcastle are interested as well.

Of course they are - they don't actually have a recruitment department, they just follow our interests as declared on here and put in a higher bid if they fancy the player!

Seem to remember we had a left back on loan last season who was something of a dead ball specialist, (at least he was at Loftus Road). What was his name now? and what happened to him?

He would certainly come a hell of a lot cheaper than either this chap, or Gomez. He is a free agent.
I believe he's now at Standard Liege

Looks like this could be another signing. Seems we are looking for value from overseas rather than the UK.

Was ALWAYS going to be the case.

Am slightly surprised by this one as he doesn't fit the model of 23-25 on a long contract with re-sale value. Maybe the thought process is good squad player, quicker than Poco, and relatively low risk if we can secure for c£3m and relatively low wages - £20-25k.

Agreed. We do need a bit of experience. As you say it is low risk. £3 million (if that is the actual price) is nothing and there may be some resale value if he does well and we go down. He'd still only be 31 then.

Money not spent on a left back will add to the funds needed for strikers, as it should be.

I meant on players, as you well know. He won't spend money unnecessarily.
Tony hasn't spent HIS money unnecessarily on ridiculous demands for second division footballers.
This time he's playing with the houses money.
Even though we all know he's no Tony Fernandes, and for that matter CH ain't no 'Arry, our Tony will easily be parting with cash this Summer.
