6 from me, would like to see the players turn up for every game. Too goal shy as well.

I don't think we're too goal shy, I think our decisions on when to shoot or play the killer ball are poor.

We've had loads of shots. Most of them have been poor ones.

8) The most beautiful football I've ever seen us play. Poyet's passing But with endless chances up front. Even when we lost I usually watched dribbling out of the corner of my mouth at countless passages of awesome play. I want more and fear going cold turkey over the summer!

A for effort, C for achievement

The most frustrating premier league season so far. Yes we are playing great footie but failing to take points from the lower teams became predictable.

I have docked a whole mark for that last minute palace goal.

Priority for next season is to not drop so many points from winning positions please.

6? Maybe?

Same points as last season and finishing lower in the table would appear to be a marginal backwards step and therefore 5 or lower. However, the defence looks more solid and we’ve ticked another couple of the Big 6 off our list. We’ve almost always been competitive in matches. Progress feels like it’s just around the corner so I’ll go for a 6.

Still all to do next season though. The arms race continues. The priority remains staying up, then finishing above them, then pushing up the table. The Premier League is a tough gig.

8 for me.

Why - because i can see what could have been with a few tweaks i.e. we could have been 12th and for a team with our history that is a big achievement. Too many people are expecting something which isn't going to happen without a bIg injection of money and if that happens the same people will be expecting us to win the league and will be disappointed if we don't. We have improved , we need to persuade Biss to stay and we can continue to move forward. My glass is still half full.

Some very poor results against the very few teams worse than us.

Beating a ten man Citeh and a couple of other good results is not enough to redeem a poor (but not disasterous) season.

Unless things improve quickly we will go down - if not next year then in a couple of years. Flirt with tbe bottom three for long enough, and eventually you become one of them.

Do you not see progress? Serious question.

7 for me.

The football's a joy to watch and there have been some memorable scalps of big teams along the way.

But progression for the Albion is as much about putting the relegation rivals away, let alone the geographical rivals...and we didn't do that.

Newcastle somehow ended up 12th despite being terrible against us and we put 6 past them over 2 games. So many dropped points against the bottom lot.

Another season of finishing behind an aged Palace team was disappointing.

Frustratingly, the striker situation is still to be resolved and should be as a matter of priority. Not enough chances taken and not enough from midfield too.

But all of that said, we've stayed up with something to spare and tried to play football in doing so.

Plenty of areas to improve on, but I'm happy and remain Potter-in.

Just need all the fans back now...

Maintained results and lovely football to watch most of the time in what was a consolidating season. Don't know what a few self-entitled ones expect. We're still a work in progress and doing well despite a terrible injury list. Even standing still is progress in this league.
Introducing Sánchez, and much more solid at the back :) as a result of this dominant goalkeeper.
The development of most players.
The development of Potter. He's learned not to tinker excessively, which he was probably doing earlier. He's gradually modified our style of play, too, including more long balls into channels.
The experience of Lallana and Welbeck.
Bissouma looking more and more like Lawrenson. Sublime tackling again yesterday.

The striker situation of course and getting the damn thing in the net.
We do lose the ball a lot in some matches.
Slow passing and build-up. Some evidence of improvement here, e.g. in the Manchester City match. There needs to be more, but without better players more able to do this well (£££), there will be more mistakes.
Despite some improvement, we're still fannying around at the back too much, and that could easily have cost us against the Arses. There has been some improvement here, but this needs to be more consistent.

16th was more or less where I thought we would end up but I think that it's actually a slight underachievement; better results against the bottom 3 and we could have been 12th/13th.

Therefore, I was going to vote 6 but I was swayed to vote 7 based on the promotion and then subsequent form of Sanchez.

7 from me. Beautiful football for the most part. A joy to watch us have more possession than the top teams when playing them on numerous occasions.

But, too flakey in terms of holding on to a lead, and not being clinical enough in front of goal has cost us finishing much higher up the league. XG stats don't tell the whole picture but the difference between our actual position and XG position is pretty ridiculous - probably broken a record for the gap between both positions I'm guessing?!

Newcastle finishing 12th is a little misleading - only 4 points ahead of us and a big 10 points gap between villa in 11th and the also-rans below them.

Palace can have their position just above us as far as I'm concerned - at the end of the day we both stayed up on around the same points, and I certainly know which team I'd rather have had to watch all season out of the two!

Having said that, it would be lovely if we could progress beyond being part of the also-rans next season...

Leeds and Villa finishing so high up the table was very annoying. It shouldn’t irk but it does. Hopefully Grealish and Raphinha will go to Man City and Real Madrid respectively in the summer.

6.

The 5 lonely points from 8 games vs Palace, West Brom, Fulham and Sheff Utd badly derailed our season.

7 for me. The progress made this season is impressive.
I find the experience of watching Football on TV completely different to being at the ground.

Watching us play on Tuesday night, I was struck by just how good we are now.
So much better than the team I was watching last February.

Anyone that cannot see the progress, is deliberately choosing not to see it.
I know, I know "The table doesn't lie"
All of the Newcastle fans I know (2) think that them finishing 12th is a travesty that will keep Bruce in a job.

If Potter is capable of getting the same amount of improvement from the squad over the next 12 months, we will be enjoying a very good season.

False narrative that there were 3 poor sides. 10th got 59 pts this season which is huge, the top half hoovered up points and it gives a false impression that the bottom 3 were somehow any worse than other seasons. In past seasons Villa in 11th on 55 could expect to be up in 8th and above. It’s been a very competitive year with a lot of sides in similar form.

Some of our games where we didn’t get results were the most ridiculous one side affairs I think I’ve seen. If we can just add some clinical edge that we have all the attributes in place to kick on.

5 because we should be doing better. despite the good football we struggled to get to 40 pts, inconsistent except in front of goal where consistently inaccurate and wasteful, soft mentally.
