I’ve worked security and I can 100% guarantee if I removed anyone, male or female who was not resisting, assaulting me or threatening me with violence, from a building in that manner I’d be spending the night in a cell. And rightly so. She isn’t even causing distress to anyone, she’s trespassing and disturbing a supper. Annoying but not warranting that level of force.
You really don’t know what you are talking about.

I've also worked in security and you can use reasonable force to prevent or end trespass. This woman was trespassing.

Define reasonable force? Grabbing someone's arms to push them out of the room? Fair enough.

Grabbing someone's neck? No.

The lady in the pictures is Jeremy Hunts wife not Fields. In case it wasn't entirely obvious.....

I know she was trespassing, and I know she could not predict what might happen, but I feel a little peeved that
she was handled so roughly. Proportional force and all that?

She has said she will not press charges which to me shows her strength in other
ways. More so than that ****** MP.

Ha ha - this is pathetic (as is all that 'fight or flight' bollocks above)
From the (see above) full video, it is completely obvious what was going on, everything was under control, no threats etc.

Also from that longer video I just found out someone I know was there (one of the protesters, not one of the suited elite).

And what if she was actually carrying battery acid as suggested by Jo Brand ?

Whataboutery. Where would she be concealing battery acid in an evening dress? Why would a Climate Change protestor be carrying a corrosive material?

The only huge overreaction was Mark Field.

Nah - not for me. If it was your wedding or party and an ex came uninvited to cause a scene, you’d probably not think twice about getting her out of there ASAP - was a split second decisions and a huge social media lead overreaction for me.

It's a grey area but personally I believe holding someone by the back of the neck is reasonable - it allows you to control the person - by the front of the neck then it's assault. When being trained to move people, and I'm not suggesting Field was trained in the action, you are taught which parts of the body are control points - the back of the neck is one of them.

I suspect that if you removed the political point from the problem and only consisdered the security and legal points the action would seem reasonable.

What are all your thoughts on Brighton protests in the Goldstone era, just out of interest?

Should Bill Archer have got private security to rough up fans that went to his home? Should the club have hired more private security + got the police involved to baton fans protesting at the Goldstone (a private venue) ? What about fans that broke the goals?

It depends on individuals, I'm a conformist, any protesting I'd do would be law abiding, but that's just me.

It wasn't his party.

And actually your now saying he can act like that because someone is causing a scene - rather than because they think they're in immediate danger.

I think it's the perfect venue and delivers the correct message. "while you mob of Bullingdon tossers are sitting in your DJ's, congratulating yourselves over toasts and the finest wines, the ****ing earth is dying". The time for these extravagant banquets all paid for by the taxpayer while nurses queue up at food banks ( I know that's not what they were protesting) and Mum's are resorting to survival sex or rent for sex in the 21st ****ing century in one of the wealthiest countries on earth, should be at an end.

You would push your daughter or wife against a pillar, grab them by the back of the neck and march them out? Nice.

Oh dear,You`ve resorted to your normal rubbish !!

Come off it Sheebo. If it was an ex, then you would know they were there to cause trouble.

Watch the longer video with sound. Not one of the 30-40 women had tried to do anything bar shout across the speech. There is footage of security talking to them at the back of the room, so no threat of violence anywhere.

Then he would have been more use if he'd got himself and others as far away from her as possible. If he had tackled her the way he did in this video and she had battery acid on her he would have got a faceful, as he does absolutely nothing to restrain her arms. She would have been free to douse him in it. But she didn't. Because she didn't have battery acid on her at a peaceful protest.

Great point but I suspect you'll be waiting a long time for an answer. Unless someone can justify why direct action is ok when saving a football club but not the actual planet.

He isn't trained, and the woman had already lowered her head after bouncing back from the pillar. She made no attempt to raise her arms or to kick out. He could easily have taken both her arms to take her to security, but if you look at his face in the footage, he has lost his temper. She didn't even struggle.

Eco-terrorism has been around for a long time now.

Eco-terrorism is often defined as the use of violence carried out to further environmental policy change. Eco-terrorists are willing to inflict emotional and physical distress on their victims if they believe it will further their environmental goals.

Shouting across a speech is causing trouble! I have absolutely no knowledge of what the event was or what the protest was - which I think helps in this instance as others are letting their political angle cloud their view imo. She was trespassing and got escorted out with reasonable force - I really don’t see the issue. She will hopefully learn from her mistake that she is not above the law.
