So putting to bed the NSC conviction that everyone we want will be gagging to play for Gus and at Falmer :lolol:

I'm guessing this is not at all related to Poyet warning players and agents in the Argus yesterday, that we won't be paying silly money.

:annoyed: Oh dear, doesn't bode well. He is one player I'd want the club to ensure we have here next year and beyond.

Come on Marcos everyone here wants you !

I think the above posters are right. Probably the club playing hardball a bit to put a marker down to agents etc.

Hopefully he will sign. I'd be surprised if many players these days signed the first deal put to them.

The thing is if we bow down to the demands of this agent it will put additional pressure on every other single deal done this Summer. I'm glad that Gus/Bloom are playing hard ball and if that means we lose out on a couple of players who have ideas above their station then so be it.

I admire Albion for taking this stance, like you did with Fozzy. The only problem is the "Orange One" went down this road a few years ago - very publicly - and look what happened to HIM...:nono:

Spot on. As much as I want to Painter in our starting line up in August, we must not overpay. I still think Jim McNulty can/will do a tremendous job for us, so we don't need to go overboard for Marcos.

Not really, there'll be others. We have Super Jim McNulty, its more important that we dont pay more for players then what they are worth, we dont want to be Portsmouth. No one wants to be Portsmouth.

Painter is FAR better than McNulty. I don't think it will be a disaster if he doesn't sign, but it won't be far from it!
