Our best window since promotion will be the window we sign a decent striker, no matter what else happens in it.

Well we did that last summer tbf…

When he's our main striker at the level of a mid table side.

For example

Danny Ings
Raul Jimenez
Dominic Calvert-Lewin

For me that's the sort of quality we should be aspiring to as our main striker.

So did we sign this player two years ago?

Maupay has scored 18 goals in his first 70 PL games. How does that compare?

Calvert-Lewin 11 goals in first 78 PL games
Ings 21 goals in first 73 PL games

Calvert-Lewin then scored 27 in his next 70.
Ings scored 34 in his next 67.

Jimenez less comparable, but scored 18 in his last 80 games in the Portuguese league before coming here.
He then got 30 in his first 76 PL games, at age 27 when he arrived.

All I'm saying is that its way too soon to write Maupay off. Most strikers take time to settle at the top level before they become prolific.

Its not always the number scored, but how many chances wasted........

He will play the first half for Getafe, will sign his contract at half time on the pitch then play the second half for us

It’s the Olympics football final on Saturday. He is in the Spanish squad. He will still be in Japan.

Irrelevant. Take out penalties. And Maupay scored 5 less than expected xg.

It’s the ones you miss though as well…… (unfortunately)

So the Argus reporting he doesn’t want to talk with agent about a move until after the Olympics.

I imagine wouldn’t be the case if was a big club in for him .

Not confident this one . In the running but waiting for a better offer elsewhere is my hunch . Rightly or wrongly

Preparing and focusing on an Olympic final or thinking about a possible transfer afterwards. What would 99.99% of players say to the press they were doing?

This is non-story.

Yer I wouldn't get hopes up about this one. Would be a strange transfer. Getafe similar sized club to us who have been in Europe recently beating the likes of Ajax.

I’m actually gonna be bold for once and suggest, given the Getafe presidents comments about an attractive offer from an English club etc that we will get this one done - 90% think he’ll be ours.
