I wouldn't expect any player to immediately hand in a transfer request after being warmly welcomed, awarded and them waxing lyrical about what a great year they've had. Badly advised or not, he could have remained impartial publicly whilst this transfer business was conducted.

He’ll have been advised by his agent, who undoubtedly will have told him that if you don’t do this you’re in danger of losing the move. I very much doubt he did it with any malice or disrespect intended. I’ve seen nothing bad from him personally at all, I wish we’d had another couple of seasons with him in the squad but I’m not going to get offended by him daring to want to double his wages and play in the Champions League.

I will miss him, and wish him and his family all the best. (except when he’s playing against Brighton of course, then I hope he keeps stepping on rakes)

Handing in a transfer request as I understand it will negate any loyalty clause. As such it makes a transfer more possible by removing that cost to the club. It is just business and part of the negotiations and it simply the player and agents way of improving the economic likelihood of the transfer.

I have no concern around it and it actually helps Brighton financially if a deal can be done.

It’s not annual profit but the profit from paying £15M for a player + 1 years wage, and then selling him for £50M+.

More of a rhetorical question I guess friend as I read he handed in a transfer request so I assume he had a talk with the top brass? Maybe just reading too much in that, correct me if I am wrong. Again though will say does not deserve to be booe'd regardless on how this pans out.

Whilst I kinda 'get' the attraction of doubling one's wages, I do struggle with the concept of moving clubs to secure one's future. Surely, most Premier League players will earn well in excess of £20M during their career - is this not enough? If I was happy in a club, I would be more than happy to stay, if I was earning "only" £50K per week, so it just seems (to me) that greed is the only motivation, and very little to do with securing their/the family's future.
Of course, for we lesser mortals, I would happily go elsewhere to double my wages, as even then, I doubt I would earn enough to retire early, but the sums involved for players are astronomical, even at the 'lower' end of the scale.
Maybe it's just me?

I won’t boo him but certainly won’t be clapping him either. He should just be ignored.

Don't get me wrong, it was obvious he would be moving on and I understand the business model.
I'm just a little bit peeved the way it was conducted and how he behaved.
There was no need for him to put in a transfer request, he showed no respect for the club in doing so IMO

As I mentioned before, an offer has come in (again, apparently) that meets the value that BHAFC places in Marc and have they've made the decision to take the money. Alternatively, they could quite easily have kept saying "Thanks but no thanks" and he would've stayed and played another however many months/seasons for us.

Essentially there's two sides to every story and we don't know the full details of either of them!

But that isn't him speaking out. As others have highlighted, Dunk, Stephens and others have put in transfer requests and continued playing for us at a high (or relatively high) standard. There are any number of reasons for handing in a transfer, and he didn't tell us he did that. We know about it because other people leaked it. And as I've pointed out earlier, it could be as innocent as 'if it helps, I'm willing to forego my loyalty bonus' rather than anything more negative about playing for us.

He has said nothing. So I'm not sure how he could have kept his feelings closer to his chest.

Bigger club....more chance of warming the bench....less playing.....perhaps not enjoying living in the location....etc? All moot points, but I still feel that greed for ever-increasing dosh is the driving factor, sadly.
