One of the top rated left sided players in Spain with Barca fans wanting him back.

We will get gazumped as per.

At least you rated him but you were typically wrong in your underestimation of the club; the recruitment department in particular.

Maybe

But when it's a player like this we usually get done over. (See Nunez)

No shame in that. We are still a small club.

With our recruitment we find all manner of players - many being developmental punts. Cucurella was bought to address a long-standing issue at left back and is, to quote the bungle****, Oven-Ready. We have broken, only once, the top-10 barrier. If you're going to maintain and meet the oft-quoted "established top-10" objective - then you just don't sell players like Cucurella, especially after the ONE season he's just had. That's not our model.

Yes we do - it is our model - IF the price is right. It's what being a sustainable club is all about. We sold our POTS (even if the voting was weighted by sad Leeds fans) last year, for the price we wanted.
No reason it won't happen again. I'd love Cucu to stay for another year - but I'd have loved another year of Ben White in the strpes too.

So the papers think our POTS who has also featured in a lot of media as one of the overall top talents in the PL this season who is contracted with us until 2026 is going to leave in the summer for £5m less than United paid for Wan Bissaka 3 years ago.

Barber and Bloom must be pissing themselves reading those articles

I thought I'd go fishing for rumours to see whats being bandied around. Besides being linked with Danny Ings and some Man U reject centre half, all the talk is Cucurella going to the emptyhad as back up for Cancelo and Bissouma going to some east London club!
I should just stick to more informed sites like the flat earth society and area 51 tours

Yep, I said exactly this either here or on another thread about it.

The bidding STARTS at 60, it doesn't end there. We have a left footed, Barca trained, player of the season with four years on his contract and a reputation greater than Steve Bruce's beer belly and we have no ready made replacement. That's WAY more valuable than Ben White.

Yes. We had centre halves coming out of our ears so could drop one for £50M no problem. An attacking LB has been a long time coming and it would be fukken typical to have one for a year only. But, it shows we won't stand in the way of a player movin' on up. Much better than how Beaky has treated Dibley.

Nuance. Ben White was a BHA academy product, developed through the loan system and is a fabulous player - but at the time, and for £50m, and given we are the centre half factory, he was replaceable. Cucurella was identified and bought for many millions to fill a first team weakness. City, Spurs and Chelsea are looking for a marauding left back. They are not easy to find, and Cucurella is not easily replaceable by Brighton. Like almost every other club on the planet, we will sell our players. However, the chairman and the club have stated 'established top 10' ambitions and no doubt more lofty private targets for the (copyright Sky) best league in the world. There are multiple layers involved in the sustainability model (see Norwich City).

Did you miss the bit that was in bold and italics and in CAPITAL LETTERS - and the four words that followed it? Or did you just choose to ignore it? Or think it didn't reflect .... err ..... nuanced?

... He’s agreed personal terms and a contract until 2027, now City will send an official offer and Brighton will accept....

Needs a few BHA replies :D

have tapping up rules gone or would they just not care?

Liking the “and Brighton will accept” there, like we’re Dobbie in the Harry Potter books, groveling with gratitude for the mere chance to be abused.

Nope. Didn’t mean to ignore anything. Just over sensitive to the fact that some scrote with five followers or incredibly lazy journalists perpetuate the inevitability that when the toxic 6 come calling #teamslikebrighton will pull down their pants and accept the inevitable shafting. Our club will sell. It is part of our sustainability model. But only when it’s right for us having evaluated many metrics, with cash being only one.

You seemed to be making a direct comparison to us selling Ben White after just a season in the stripes without acknowledging the obvious differences.

City fans and journalists need to do their homework on Tony Bloom and his propensity to roll over on business deals.

60 million…maybe

That bloke is a bellend. The bigger bellends are the followers that believe he is in anyway ITK and think that we’re going to sell our PotS with 4 years left on his contract for as little as 35m.
