Strange that 100% of media coverage focussed on “city THREATENING to walk away” from a deal as if we are the ones desperate to do a deal when the whole purpose of the fee we set was to say “we don’t want to/need to sell “.

This. The whole 'walking away' thing is pure theatre, fuelling the 'MCFC is MASSIVE' narrative.

Without being ITK, I'm willing to bet a LARGE amount that it was less 'walking away' and more 'told to DO ONE'.

The transfer window can't shut fast enough!

Not impressed with City at all. They tap up players and break FFP rules and bully ‘smaller’ teams to get what they want. If they think announcing ‘they chose to walk away’ will somehow threaten Brighton into panic selling at their demands, they’ve got another thing coming. £30M was a low ball offer designed to open negotiations, I imagine the Brighton response was just a firm no.

BHA never be a huge club....well unless we find a petro dollar billionaire. No thanks we've got Tone..

I'd rather watch Brighton in league 2 (and have) then it be own by petro dollar billionaire. We are very lucky to be fan owned (all be it a very rich fan).

I love nothing more then when some of teams that buy their success lose to Brighton, their fans just can't hanndle it and lose their sh!t. It is a beautiful thing to witness.

Again, none of us know how much if this is just media trying to talk up a story rather than any reality. Both sides are probably having some very respectful and professional discussions around this but that doesn't make a very interesting story to sell papers / increase hits.

Thankfully we’re lucky to support a club ran the right way.

I wonder if the City fans are seeing who can get quoted on this thread?
Quite an achievement as they require posters who don't believe a word written here to take as gospel everything written over there.

It shouldn’t wind me up so much, but the reporting on this is mental. So City are ‘threatening to walk away’. From a deal to buy a player we don’t want to sell. That’s like me threatening not to sleep with Sienna Miller.

They are not even calling a bluff with these threats. It's laughable, the cards need to be dealt first and I'm pretty certain TB isn't even at the table yet :lolol:

I use this line a lot with City 'fans', although I use it in the opposite way to what you do. I feel like they do not 'support' the club in any way (ie, prop up) and so I do not class them as supporters. Being a fan of something, on the other hand, seems a bit more lightweight in someone's feeling towards something. Either way it's a great way to shut people up.

Yeah that is a fair point. Next time I will switch those around.

Der! If Brighton agree to sell, then I daresay Marc would agree personal terms. It would be the result of difficult and detailed negotiation though - City's negotiators would have to be right on top of their game ..........

"Marc, would you consider accepting three times your existing salary?"
"OK".

Funny that some City fans think that a loan relationship with them would be a temptation for us to lower our valuation.

Talk about confirmation bias. We currently have about half a dozen players in the first team squad who have played for our U23s. Here's the list of Man City youngsters who have been loaned to other EPL teams in the last ten years:

Jack Harrison to Leeds.

Er, that's it. In ten years! Granted, they have also produced Foden who has broken into their first team from the reserves and Cole Palmer, who got almost 150 minutes last year!

You can imagine Paul Barber:

- 'Oh wow! Can we really be part of the famous City production line!!!? Then you can take any of our players at a fraction of their market value. We still all remember when you dominated the league for a decade with all of those players who came from your youth side. Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Butt, the 'not as good as Art and Aaron' Neville Brothers'

'Oh no, that wasn't you was it?'

- 'Now I remember:- All of your stars were bought for inflated prices off other teams once they had proven themselves successful. Well I suppose if you can afford it.'

'Now you can't afford it? What a shame. Shut the door on your way out.'
