With the Carabao games coming thick and fast it gives our 'reserves' some genuine gametime to get them up and running and ready to step into the first XI should they be required.

Aston Villa reached the Final last year. They stayed up. It's quite feasible that we could do the same.

No backlog of fixtures - the next round (QF) is scheduled for 3 months time in late December.

Unlike previous years, the Semi-Finals will be over 1 game.

Only 3 more teams to beat to make the Final.

However the league game is our next game, and as the best football cliche says we should always take it "one game at a time"

The A Team isn't expected to win on Saturday, or at least they weren't at the start of the season.
Were the B team to win next week, the Cup could suddenly look very doable.

Cup game. Would be in the last 8 with a lot of decent teams already out. We've never won it before so we'd be a step closer to that and if we did somehow win it there's a European competition for next season. I'm pretty confident we'd still be okay in the league if we lost one game to United and as much as I would love to win both out of the two I lean slightly towards the cup match.

The Cup run is good fun, but I think Potter will ALWAYS play the B side in cup games, whereas most other Premier teams are fielding much stronger sides (even if they bring in a few B teamers, the big guns are on the bench). Hence, even were we to get past Man Utd it's unlikely we'd get to the final.

i think both are winnable - start AJ up front alongside Maupay and Trossard. In the cup game i would expect Utd to put out a weak (by their standards) team. I think(?) they have a Europe game on Thursday too so would likely (hopefully) take the cup game as low priority
