Brilliant performance from the lads.

Manager picked the right team and the right tactics. Huge huge positives for Sanchez who made fantastic strong saves, MacAllister, and especially Tau who could be revelatory.

On we March to Leeds.

From another pro-Potter poster here:

Excellent overall, not overawed, but again with no cutting edge at set pieces or in open play.

We are in a serious relegation battle. Not sure if we did go down we would come straight back up with potter. Not blaming him but the recruitment team should be blamed. Ps why is Solly March taking corners he’s ****ing useless.

Saw Potter shaking his head.

He'll have Solly running around a track in his pants tomorrow :lolol:

Dodgy header but why throw it there? They do appear to be numpties at times. Look at the corners right at the end.
Good effort though.

Agree. march was so wasteful when he came on too. Are we the 'Naive Numpties' (who play lovely football).

Really good performance. But zero points again. Didn’t expect anything, but still difficult to take. Only criticism is us not getting the ball in the box enough, with corners & free kicks wasted.

You get a. few moments against teams like this and Maupay had one. City keeper miles off his line. Quick look up and chip it. Unfortunately, we have a hesitant, out of form striker. Chance gone.

What a shame, positives to take from that performance though, need to score and get a run going, they need to believe they will score more in final third. Potters not going anywhere as they play impressive football and it feels like the good times are around the corner to me.

More penalties conceded than anyone else this season shows we always have a rick in us. But it was never going to be about today, the result that matters is Leeds this weekend

What is Lescott on about ? Good performance

Had me swearing at the tv. Weird out of context bullishness. Our team went to the Ethiad, where we've never got a point, three days after 120 minutes in the cup, missing Lallana, Welbeck, Bisouma, Lamptey, Connolly, Jahanbaksh, gave EPL debuts to two players and ended up one Davy Propper stretch away from a draw. They spent a lot of the preview saying how much of a mismatch it was, how much of a chance it was for City to improve their goal difference and then spent the game saying how hard we made it for them, only for that plum to come out with that hogwash.

Well.
What to say?

Potter got it right today mostly. So that is pleasing. He's got work to do now. We have so many players, and there's no question that some are starting to stand out....
Webster was sensational and has absolutely proven that he needs to play on the right of a 3 or in a 2.
Sanchez is a real talent and will need patience. He's still young and experienced so there'll be so harum scarum moments but he is definitely worth sticking with.
Tau did well in the first half. But i've seen enough of him to not be that surprised. I was worried if we could fit him in to our team- in the first half he played EXACTLY where he should and was excellent but he isn't a striker. He needs to be able to run in to space and from deep.
Mac reminded us all that he has quality. He is an option in midfield.
Propper looks a bit like he's been left behind- he'd be a quality player in the right kind of team and in a slower league.
White had his best game in midfield.
Maupay really doesn't look at the races. He has scored 3 goals in open play and I'd argue that most of our squad would have contributed as much if they'd be our primary striker. He is a conundrum and when he starts dropping deep it ruins out shape.
Bernardo is alright, but we knew that. He needs to playing in a different league. His languid and haphazard style isn't really suited the discipline of this league.
We need a striker, especially If Connolly and Wellbeck are injured. If that means getting rid of Ali J and Propper on the cheap then let's do that, ASAP.
We are still making really silly mistakes. Sanchez pick up from Webster and Dunk's header both just really weird.

The main takeaways from this are that we have a decent, if bloated, squad, and that Wolves 2nd half and today's performances leave Potter with some serious decisions to make. I'm hopeful that he has realised we are better playing more direct, on the counter with wide forwards and spreading the pitch.
It's clear we shouldn't be doing as badly as we are.

If we play like we did 2nd half Wolves and today we will beat Leeds and Fulham.

Im definitely Potter in but just wish that we could play with that intensity more often. There was a time when we did, end of last season and the beginning of this but we seem to have got bogged down a bit of late and lost confidence.
Hope this is a springboard to better performances.
