No cutting edge in set pieces or open play. That's how we are under Potter. You are Pro Potter say hello to the Championship I hope you will be pleased with keeping the feckless moron.

To be fair, it was largely a depleted squad - it provided no less of a cutting edge than our strongest starting XI. With the added bonus of a fantastic game for Sanchez, Ali Mac, Tau and a senior debut for an academy product.

Nice game. Tau, MacAllister, White, Webster had great games. Sanchez, Burn, Dunk, Propper, Veltman, Bernardo had good games. Trossard, Maupay and March left more to be desired for me.

Question for me is who does Tau replace from our not so consistant starting 11...

Sanchez

Veltman
Webster
Dunk
White
March

Bissouma
McAllister

Tau
Maupay / Andy /Welbz
Trossard

Well done Potter and the squad.

Our luck will turn, in winnable games. Very confident.

At no moment today were we 'plucky' or 'backs agains the wall'.

Well said. A very high quality performance from the Albion tonight against one of the best football teams in the world.

The Premier League is incredibly tough.

4pts from the next two games would be lovely.

More penalties conceded than anyone else this season shows we always have a rick in us. But it was never going to be about today, the result that matters is Leeds this weekend

Do you ever enjoy an Albion performance? That was an immense performance from a team that most on here expected to lose by five at least.

I despair of some Albion fans and you are one of them. You didn’t follow us in the dark days did you? You might have a different take if you had.

All I will say is... you are a fine representative of the Porter out brigade.

That was my kind of performance and perfectly sums up why I support this club and not ‘a’ City...

Beautiful defeat.

Well done GP and co, tonight you can be proud.

Albion.

Well.
What to say?

Potter got it right today mostly. So that is pleasing. He's got work to do now. We have so many players, and there's no question that some are starting to stand out....
Webster was sensational and has absolutely proven that he needs to play on the right of a 3 or in a 2.
Sanchez is a real talent and will need patience. He's still young and experienced so there'll be so harum scarum moments but he is definitely worth sticking with.
Tau did well in the first half. But i've seen enough of him to not be that surprised. I was worried if we could fit him in to our team- in the first half he played EXACTLY where he should and was excellent but he isn't a striker. He needs to be able to run in to space and from deep.
Mac reminded us all that he has quality. He is an option in midfield.
Propper looks a bit like he's been left behind- he'd be a quality player in the right kind of team and in a slower league.
White had his best game in midfield.
Maupay really doesn't look at the races. He has scored 3 goals in open play and I'd argue that most of our squad would have contributed as much if they'd be our primary striker. He is a conundrum and when he starts dropping deep it ruins out shape.
Bernardo is alright, but we knew that. He needs to playing in a different league. His languid and haphazard style isn't really suited the discipline of this league.
We need a striker, especially If Connolly and Wellbeck are injured. If that means getting rid of Ali J and Propper on the cheap then let's do that, ASAP.

The main takeaways from this are that we have a decent, if bloated, squad, and that Wolves 2nd half and today's performances leave Potter with some serious decisions to make. I'm hopeful that he has realised we are better playing more direct, on the counter with wide forwards and spreading the pitch.
It's clear we shouldn't be doing as badly as we are.

If we play like we did 2nd half Wolves and today we will beat Leeds and Fulham.

....well not according to Lescott, we won't.

Plus Webster and White. I treat Sanchez as our first choice now.

But other than versus Wolves, we seem to lack a cutting edge whatever the opposition, no matter the injuries.
