Like taking Calpol for a headache, it could get worse before it gets better.

Just had a look on their forums and they are like Rats fighting in a barrel, blame being dished out everywhere. Moaning about Moyes, tactics,Players, the ref ,Fergie, the Glazers and the transfer market, sounds like the only thing working well at Old Trafford is the catering.

Eh? How's February and May respectively too late in the summer? i've come to the conclusion they didnt have the balls to change the squad much, defering to Fergie's judgement rather than acknowledge the near universal view he'd worked a small miracle with that group.

That's when they were appointed, NOT when they started their jobs. Moyes and Woodward both officially began on 1 July. United traditionally get their transfer business out the way early. This year they wouldn't have got down to it really until July and by then that enabled clubs to play hardball knowing they were in a vulnerable position, United's need to buy being much greater than the club's need to sell. What they should have done was have had some kind of interim Sporting Director in place to negotiate on identified targets before they came into their jobs at the beginning of July.

It's a long drive from and back to Essex when it's no longer a guaranteed win.

Had a look at 'redcafe' - their internet fans seem to fairly consistently no longer rate in a big way:

Tom Cleverley and Chris Smalling are not exactly youngsters now. They're both going to be 25 this year. With Smalling you can make more of an allowance as centre backs tend to peak a bit later, but Cleverley cannot be regarded as 'one for the future' any more in his mid-twenties.

Pogba is class. It didn't help fergie was playing Rafael (a right back) in centre mid when they had injury problems and leaving pogba on the bench. No wonder he left. He would be great in that utd team. Just like our INCE.

Moyes is now moaning about the ref. I saw the game and apart form the last 20 minutes when Spurs stupidly gave them a back-in, Manure were pretty pants. Rooney could have been sent off for his persistent fouling and ranting/niggling. As for simulation! That Belgian kid was pathetic.

I love to see them struggle, let's hope Gus can turn them over in the league cup semi.

Where do people think Man Utd will end up?

I reckon they'll finish 4th and that wouldn't be a bad effort, all things considered. The thing is, SAF was definitely getting more from them than the sum of their parts. Maybe Moyes will too, but he'll have a better chance of doing it with his own team. Man Utd have a few top drawer performers that would walk into all but 3 or 4 teams, but no real strength in depth compared to City and Chelsea. Moyes has a bit of firepower up front (Welbeck is an England regular but not a first choice player for Utd), but they are short of depth everywhere else.

I think the problem is that if the scrum for the top 4 places is tight, results between the teams fighting for those places could end up counting for a lot. And so far this season, in league matches against the other teams in the top 9 in the Premier League, Manchester United have won once.

City, Arsenal and Chelsea will be the top 3 sides (not necessarily in that order) and then the 2 Merseyside clubs, Man United and Tottenham are fighting out for the next 4 places. On what's happened up to now, I would probably go for Liverpool to get 4th spot as the majority of the teams in the top half that they have to play in the 2nd half of the season have to travel to Anfield. An injury to Luis Suarez or an inspired signing in January could change that though.
