I don't see these moans doing the rounds when Utd were winning things. I heard about this year's ago so there is no way it's a shock to these people who purchased the season tickets.
There is no force involved - If a fan decides not to pay the extra for the additional home games then their season ticket won't immediately be suspended - they will still be entitled to go to the home games they have paid for.
All the club is saying is that should the holder decide not to go to every game then the following season they will sell the seat next season to someone who will.
Buying a season ticket for this season doesn't automatically entitle you to buy one next season - even at the Amex as ordinary season ticket holders we don't have that as a right
But then if you are an individual struggling with money, you really shouldn't have a Man United season ticket, especially as you know that doing so commits you to buying tickets for up to 14 additional matches.
This site went into melt down when our club sent out an email about 50% discount on merchandise after the Hull defeat.
After Tuesday night, MU send an email out to tell supporters if they don't buy an Olympiakos 2nd leg ticket, their ST will be frozen for the Manchester derby!!!
Nice.

I'm no fan of United (in fact quite the opposite), but the timing of this 'news' leak is clearly an attempt to kick them while they're down. They've apparently had this policy for years, yet it gets conveniently highlighted by the mass media now they're up shit creek? Typical tabloid journalism.
As others have said, the fans know what they're signing up for at the start of each season so it's not come as any surprise, and if they don't think they have a chance of turning over a poor Olympiakos side and therefore decide not to buy a ticket - frankly, they deserve what they get.

Not sure what the problem is. They are the terms and conditions when the ticket was bought and the purchaser would know that.
Well, its not coming as a "shock" to any of their fans, its a policy thats been in place for years.
Would you have no problem with it if it was implemented at the Albion, just as long as you knew up-front ?
Totally and utterly WRONG in everyway but an extremely good way to make sure money comes in !!
Not good for the true fans though terrible.

Exactly, whatever your opinion of MU fans, it is a another blatant exploitation of fans and their support for their club. No one should be forced at the start of a season to commit to an undefined expenditure over the course of a year.
