I don't see these moans doing the rounds when Utd were winning things. I heard about this year's ago so there is no way it's a shock to these people who purchased the season tickets.

There is no force involved - If a fan decides not to pay the extra for the additional home games then their season ticket won't immediately be suspended - they will still be entitled to go to the home games they have paid for.

All the club is saying is that should the holder decide not to go to every game then the following season they will sell the seat next season to someone who will.

Buying a season ticket for this season doesn't automatically entitle you to buy one next season - even at the Amex as ordinary season ticket holders we don't have that as a right

Er sorry but you are wrong. The email says that if you don't pay for your Olympiakos ticket then your season ticket is suspended for the Man City league game - which is their next home game, and for which they have already paid as part of the season ticket.

This site went into melt down when our club sent out an email about 50% discount on merchandise after the Hull defeat.

After Tuesday night, MU send an email out to tell supporters if they don't buy an Olympiakos 2nd leg ticket, their ST will be frozen for the Manchester derby!!!

Nice.

If I was a fan I would not need reminding to go to the second leg, after all, it will probably their last game in Europe for a couple of years !:lolol:

Just imagine travelling up from Devon for a dead-rubber Thursday night Europa League group game vs Rotor Volgograd, just so you're not banned from going to the Liverpool game on the Sunday (which you had already paid for).

Wow.

I'm no fan of United (in fact quite the opposite), but the timing of this 'news' leak is clearly an attempt to kick them while they're down. They've apparently had this policy for years, yet it gets conveniently highlighted by the mass media now they're up shit creek? Typical tabloid journalism.

As others have said, the fans know what they're signing up for at the start of each season so it's not come as any surprise, and if they don't think they have a chance of turning over a poor Olympiakos side and therefore decide not to buy a ticket - frankly, they deserve what they get.

This site gets upset because our club actually offers to pay for our away ticket to Hull, and yet people were still wetting the bed because it was only a credit back to their e-cash!!!! I can only imagine what we'd be like if this kind of policy was implemented on us!

We did the Old Trafford tour in the summer whilst up that way and were told about this by the guide.

What was more shockng (to me, anyway) was that the tour guide...who commits his life to the club and has been a supporter for 50 years and a guide for 20 or so doesn't get a SINGLE penny off his season ticket. :lolol:

It seems to me more a case of bad timing - Man United fans much less inclined to watch their teams lifeless performances in games that should clearly be 'optional', allied to the fact that they have to watch United (probably) perform limply in a 1-1 draw which sends them out of the Champions League (and which will be televised) in order to attend probably their biggest home league game of the season. If their next home game was Fulham I suspect we wouldn't be hearing about it but that the attendance would simply be lower for both the Champions League and league game.

Not sure what the problem is. They are the terms and conditions when the ticket was bought and the purchaser would know that.

True enough, its not coming as a "shock" to any of their fans, its a policy thats been in place for years.

But would you have no problem with it if it was implemented at the Albion if we made the PL say, just as long as you knew up-front ?

Exactly, whatever your opinion of MU fans, it is a another blatant exploitation of fans and their support for their club. No one should be forced at the start of a season to commit to an undefined expenditure over the course of a year.

I feel terribly sorry for these Man Utd fans.

They've campaigned TIRELESSLY against the money grabbing American running the club and saddling them with a massive debt, by turning up dutifully game after game as if nothing was untoward, and revelling in trophy after trophy. Some of them even ANGRILY chose to wear green & yellow scarves.

Best fans in the land.

It is still a choice they can make. Presumably if they can't make a game they can let someone else 'use' their ticket!

TBH, they sold their soul many years ago when they dumped the FA Cup for a tour of the Far East which was, allegedly, to win some votes from Asia for Englands World Cup bid, but in reality was a chance to sell lots of shirts.

Why? The STH is buying tickets for EVERY home game the club will play, but given the number of non-league games there will be in a season is unknown, they pay the additional amount on a game by game basis (or instalments if you will). I see no real issue with this from either the fans or the clubs perspective.

Or, MU could charge a ST price on the assumption that the club make the final of each cup, then issue a refund when/if they get knocked out based on games which now don't occur? You are then signing up to a defined expenditure with an undefined refund... exactly the same amount of money, just different semantics!
