Was pretty fantastic when it happened in Scotland actually. Rangers were dumped on their arses in the lowest division in Scotland. Due to their massive fanbase they gifted every single club in the lower divisions a massive windfall on the gate on their way back up through the leagues. Most of those clubs exist on a wing and a hopeful prayer of drawing Rangers (or Celtic) at home in a Cup game
I also think that, after the initial anger, Rangers fans had a pretty fun 3 or 4 seasons working their way back up.

Rather like Leeds and their refusal to accept their loss in Europe, we should all just refuse to recognise the titles city has won over this period.

Congratulations to liverpool and Arsenal.

Apart from anything else it would really wind city fans up who already seem bemused that they don't get the respect and love they feel they deserve.

Very interesting. It seems that out of the 115 charges, only 5 to 12 were the actual loss hiding actions where as the other 100 or so are around the cover-up. For that reason, it has to be League 2 for them….at best.

Perhaps that's why Pep is rumoured to call it a day after next season?

So out of 115 charges, seven are for breaches of Premier League PSR. Everton and Forest were both found guilty of this and had points deductions both in the subsequent season (for Everton's first charge) and current season (for Everton's second charge and Forest's). Yet City have been able to celebrate winning four titles in a row when a points deduction would have cost them the title. Why are they sitting on this for so long?

Perhaps.

He has been there for ages.

They are running out of delaying tactics such as arguing that the EPL has no authority to punish them etc.

Pep’s legacy will be cut with these cheating charges forevermore hopefully.

No.1 - They’ve never admitted it and been honest like Everton and Forest. There has been a huge cover up.

No.2 - When you are very wealthy, you can employ hugely expensive lawyers to kick the can down the road. City have been arguing that even if they did break the rules, the Premier League does not have the authority to punish them for example.

City have been arguing that even if they did break the rules, the Premier League does not have the authority to punish them for example.

And this is why it needs to be addressed otherwise it'll make a total mockery of the FFP/PSR rules and Everton and Forest have a claim against unfair punishment. Opens up a huge can of worms.

There is an old adage in banking isn't there, that goes something like...

"If you owe a bank one hundred thousand pounds, you have a problem. If you owe a bank one hundred million pounds, then THEY have a problem"

Well - THAT - the 'bank' has allowed the problem to go on so long, and grow so big, that it is now THEIR problem more than Man City's. The potential fallout will damage the league itself, not just the 'debtor'.

I am not sure the PL has the power to relegate Man City down to the bottom of the league, all they could do is kick them from the PL, it would be up to the Football League to decide what to do with them after that wouldn't it?
Personally I would leave them in the PL but make them start with minus 40 points, for as many seasons as they have dragged this out for, or as many seasons as they breached the rules for. They have bought prolonged success, they should get a prolonged punishment.

Can someone get ChatGPT to summarise the contents of these X posts in one paragraph.
"This Twitter thread provides a summary of the situation regarding Manchester City's 115 charges for breaching Premier League rules and their previous case with Uefa and CAS. The thread explains that there is confusion surrounding the charges, as mainstream media has not provided detailed explanations. The thread goes on to answer common questions about the case, including the charges against Manchester City, the origins of the investigation, the authenticity of the leaked emails, the differences between the Uefa and Premier League cases, the issues with the CAS decision, and the potential outcomes of the Premier League case. It concludes by mentioning that two additional threads will be published in the future, one summarizing the hacked emails released by Der Spiegel and another dissecting the CAS judgment."

I asked ChatGPT to summarise your post into a limerick...

There once was a club called City,
Charged with breaching rules, what a pity.
UEFA and the Premier League,
Investigations to intrigue,
Confusion and questions, what a ditty!

...and a gangsta rap:

Yo, listen up, here's the story of City,
Charged with breaching rules, what a pity.
Premier League got 115 charges to throw,
UEFA and CAS, they got involved in the show.

Mainstream media got confusion on display,
Lack of explanations, causing dismay.
But this thread got the answers, no need to stress,
Breakin' it down, puttin' all doubts to rest.

They talk about the charges, where it all began,
Origins of the investigation, uncoverin' the plan.
Them leaked emails, are they real or fake?
Manchester City denies, the truth they shake.

UEFA and Premier League, two different cases,
But both got City in tight spaces.
CAS decision, overturnin' the ban,
Got the football world in a whirlwind, man.

The Premier League case, what's the outcome gonna be?
Future threads dissectin' it, wait and see.
Hacked emails by Der Spiegel, they'll summarize,
And the CAS judgment, they'll scrutinize.

So stay tuned, keep your eyes on the thread,
Unravelin' the truth, nothin' left unsaid.
Manchester City's story, it's a wild ride,
With twists and turns, nothin' to hide.

should be relegation to L2 at start the season on -1 point ie they start from 92nd and last in the league.
Won't happen obviously but that would be very amusing.

One question though how would the leagues be made up as you'd need to promote a team from each division to balance them. Highest finishing non promoted team? Play off losers?

Same way the Scotch did it when Rangers were demoted?

Why does it damage the bank though?

With all due respect, Man City aren’t THAT big.
