Oh I was waiting for the first victim to ask this....Clearly you are uneducated in this matter. So let me spell it out, there is a tin-pot organisation that seems to have appeared called (FARE) Football Against Racism in Europe. Now at the away game last season versus PSV both fans sung their songs and got on together throughout the few days Rangers were there. I can state that that the UEFA delegation who attended this match (which is on record) were more than happy with both sets of fans behavior that evening. But lo and behold we now have an organisation called FARE who have links to Glasgow Celtic's board of directors and despite repeated (8 in total) emails and letters to FARE I am yet to receive a response to my questions. As an open forum for discussing any problems they don't even have a phone number to call. I wouldn't take this lightly because in their eyes call someone a pikey, it could result in your teams fans being banned for a game or two. Here's the site, you judge for yourself

This quote makes no sense whatsoever. FARE (whoever they are) can't ban supporters from European games, only UEFA, so they couldn't have been that happy. It's also not the first time Rangers have been in trouble for it.

As for Celtic, I'm not particularly keen on them either.

I am NOT going to get dragged into either a) Rangers v Celtic or b) the anti- both of them argument, HOWEVER -

I have followed this incident quite a bit and this is the first time I have seen someone suggest that FARE have links to the Celtic board. That's quite an allegation - any evidence to back it up?

Actually just back from Malmo so only just seen this!!
Here's your evidence - and as a matter of further interest FAREs Piara Powar is the partner of Radio 5's Drivetime presenter Aasmah Mir who just happens to be a fervent ........Celtic supporter!!!

FARE'S PIARA POWAR AND CELTIC-Exclusive

Posted: 23 Jun 2011 12:41 AM PDT

PIARA POWAR today stands accused of having paid employment links which lead to…

CELTIC!

Powar is the paid chief executive of the highly controversial and extremely secretive FARE organisation.
And it was on Piara Powar’s say-so that FARE launched an undercover operation which targeted Rangers.

I have already revealed that Powar’s flat refusal to reveal the identity of whoever acted on FARE’s behalf, and which led to Rangers being charged by UEFA, has sparked fears the Ibrox club could have been the victims of entrapment by an agent provocateur.

Now I have been handed a dossier which indicates Powar is implicated in a paper trail of companies which leads to…

CELTIC!

For as well as being paid as FARE’s chief executive, it is believed Piara Powar also banks a fee for acting as an ambassador for a company called, Onside.

This has been pointed out before, as is the fact that Onside is a subsidiary of another group, called Milestone.

It has also been pointed out in the past that one of the directors of Milestone is one, Brett, J Desmond. He is the son of Celtic owner, Dermott Desmond.

Until this point in the paper trail there appears no direct link which would disqualify Piara Powar’s FARE from acting against Rangers.

However, there is now a claim that the shares Brett J Desmond owns in Milestone are held by a company known as Aurum nominees.

And the further allegation is that Aurum Nominees hold nearly ONE MILLION shares in….

CELTIC!

If that is the case, then Piara Powar should have made all of this known to UEFA.

Right:

1. It's common knowledge the bloke's missus is a Celtic fan and it means nothing.

2. Have you got the actual link for that article? It has more opinionated superlatives than the bloody Daily Star. Not to mention completely unreferenced sweeping statements and "dossiers" that no-one but the author appears to have seen or knows about. And it several times uses very speculative phrases such as "it is believed", "it appears", "there is a claim" etc, again unreferenced. In other words, its complete bollocks.

3. The link given is so tenuous that you could probably link anyone to anyone using similar levels of interaction.

Got anything proper?

Edit - and you lot have the f***ing nerve to accuse Neil Lennon and Celtic of being paranoid and in search of conspiracy theories!

It is a completely incoherent argument. I thought it was related to chanting anyway, which you don't need an undercover investigation to hear...

Not to the average punter reading about it in the Daily Record or press generally and perhaps the fact that they are related just MIGHT mean that there is an agenda in there, no?!

Don't have the link because it was sent as an email so copied and pasted it. Why should he print an article that is publically libellous if it's not true? And why is it bollocks just because you as a Celtic supporter dont want to believe it?!

Ooooh - obviously it has hit a nerve though!! I can't prove that what he's saying is true but maybe theres no smoke without fire?!!

You were obviously there to hear it then?!

Because funnily enough UEFAs delegate made no reference to sectarian chanting at neither the home or away legs and gave the Gers fans a fairly positive report!!

Fully agree. No place for sectarianism on here. With hearts & hands & swords & shields we should guard against it & concentrate on our club for it is old & it is beautiful & its colours they are fine.

Apologies to people who don't want the old firm argument on here (of which I am one) - I was only posting about a particular comment to do with corruption.

Jimbo and bluenose. Are you Rangers fans who have a soft spot for the albion? or are you Brighton fans?

If Brighton played Rangers, who would you want to win?

I think you are a Brighton fan who has a soft spot for Celtic ATFC (judging by your signature) or are Aberystwyth your first love?

Same question applies Brighton V Celtic/Aberystwyth

Not stirring things up. Just curious.

Pretty much spot on - Brighton 1st, also follow Celtic. When I signed up I was at university in Aberystwyth and was following them so it seemed like a good username - not been to a game in 4 years now so it's perhaps a bit out of date!

Edit - if they played each other, definitely Albion, on the basis that it would likely be in an early rounds European qualifier, and for Aber just playing the game would be a bit of a final. Having said that, if that game ever comes around, no-one would ever hear the end of it from me!!

Would hope that I never have to make that choice - but who knows with Gus in charge!!
I've supported Rangers for 25 years or so (not missed an away game in Europe for five years!!) but my first Albion game was when I was seven years old 43 years ago so that says it all really!
