Well shopping day today ( I've refused to buy any extras because it's a c*n*ish thing to do ) and here's Sainsburys West Hove ( one isle but most were the same ) :

Wankers2.jpg

So first and foremost - well done those "let's buy a bit more" w@nkers - there's a few on here, in particular one who's defended his mass purchases *** cough *** including breakfast. Secondly, I assume those said w@nkers will be happy that I've struggled to buy food for my elderly ( 76 & 78 year old ) and frail and sick parents as well. Also went to Aldi where a number of people were arguing with shop assistants about the number ( at least six in their trolleys ) of each item they should be allowed to buy. Really, I despair of human kind.

Equally, it shows up Matt Hancock to be a complete and utter liar.

Good news is that I've found a Chinese Supermarket that has loads of food. PM me if you want the details ( certain posters will be ignored ! ).

That’s almost entrapment for some of the Mike Giggler types on here

I've not seen any of the stuff you allude to, but my guess would be that interviewers are not going to waste an opportunity at having a government minister in front of them and will ask about anything and everything related to the situation.

And once the questions come, he can't really sit there and say "that's not my job - ask Rishi".

He was on QT Thursday evening, which is a genuine free for all at the best of times but obviously centred on our current issues last night, this morning he was on BBC breakfast about 8.30 ish and the questioning moved on to the finances, which I thought was unfair to put him on the spot. By mid morning he was warning about panic buying in shops. Call me old fashioned but I would prefer our Health Secretary to be left to focus on our NHS rather than supply chains of bog roll and business rate suspensions. .

People are definitely listening to extent, the streets of Brighton are I would say 90% more empty than usual. Something has to be done to stop the idiots pictured last night out filling out pubs and clubs, I cannot comprehend these selfish morons.

I doubt anyone is happy you can't get food for your parents but more fool you for not starting to buy a little extra each time you went before! Yes, people buying 6 of everything are the problem but if, over the course of the last 3 or 4 weeks you bought a couple of tins extra each time you went then you wouldn't be in this situation now. There are two extremes in this crisis, those that have stocked up as if preparing for a nuclear winter and those that just buried their head in the sand!!!

As for the supermarkets, I'm sure they're happy raking it in. There isn't a supply shortage, just a distribution problem. Need more deliveries over night.

Alternatively, if nobody had bought a 'little extra' the system would still be working for everyone.

Just as worrying is 1St London hospital has reached capacity after just a week or so., this is a sign of what is coming I'm afraid

We’re tracking Italy’s infection/death rate almost exactly now from 14 days ago. March 6th Italy saw their total death toll hit 197.

The big jump for us could be Sunday, Italy recorded 130 deaths on the 8th of March which was the start of a shocking daily death rate that is still climbing. If we are on anything like that number, it’s going to be very very hard for us all. What is happening in Italy has been the worst case scenario for me (and they appear to have the biggest problem in the world).

Exactly ... I am due back home Tuesday and not a jot of food in the house and bothered that I'm not going to get any.

Booked a delivery slot two weeks ago for next Friday so might have to tough it for 3 days but worried that the driver will knock on my door with a can of shaving gel and a bottle of fairy liquid

Thought I'd be smart and book another delivery slot for +10 days but it's not giving me any option at all just get a banner saying no delivery slots available, period!

Don't you just love our society

Absolutely.
You'd expect an 'isle' to be surrounded by water. This one in Sainsburys is surrounded by nothing.
Very poor, I know.:D

Humour is important in such times. As is the need to keep our standards up. Covid19 or no Covid19, NSC must maintain standards!!

You really are an insensitive fool aren't you (wanted to use the c word, but I'm trying to curb my profanity).

People couldn't prepare for this by buying a couple of extra bits each week? Where was I supposed to put my supplies to last me the 12 week isolation that is coming my way. Maybe I should have had the foresight to buy a freezer to store milk, and another for bread and another for the 360 frozen meals I would require to see my family through our isolation, all because greedy ***** have stripped the shops bare - bugger the profanity ban didn't last long!

Oh and Boris's advice to shop online or get a friend to do it is also shit, as you can't get a time slot in any of the supermarkets for the next 3 weeks (that's how far the book a slot calendar goes) and friends can't buy multiples of items due to the ban on quantities...!

And if you had to self isolate you would still need to go food shopping regularly and spread the virus further!!!

A little extra is only about another weeks worth as I suspect most people probably already have a weeks worth in the cupboards anyway. Like I said, the problem is those that have stocked up for months.

Sorry, I was referring to the situation of most who, if they contract the virus will have to self isolate for 14 days. That said, I would still put a large part of the blame on the supermarkets who could have done more earlier to curb 'excessive' shopping.
