I'm not sure it's completely obvious to everyone.

I wish the Govt would point this out to people. Sure, announce the new number of detections. But you must also have modelling which points out what I am saying, and they should be sharing that too.

I recon there are very many people who are currently taking their chances with it while they hear a new figure of <100 today, who would be much more careful if they understood that there were not <100 new cases today, there were very likely >1,000 cases today.

It most likely to be higher but if the symptoms don’t show or are very mild then the contagion won’t be reported. However if the 2% fatality rate stays true the. We are either doing something right or the virus is very weak. Obviously it’s a function of time but if my fathers illness (pneumonia) was anything to go by ( he would have been at risk) then it shows very very quickly.

Just how far can testing scale, or when does testing become not a thing any more.

At 10k/day it would take 18 years to test the whole population, and that’s just once per person too.

It was merely a point on how had today's figures been based on testing 10k the number of cases would potentially have shot up by 500 or more

Spain looks like it might be going same way as Italy - another 375 cases and 9 deaths today......

Backs up what I've been thinking for some time, that the virus is particularly contagious in areas where it is dry with mild weather and cool at night - possible that if its too hot, too cold or too wet (or all three or a combination) the virus is limited in how long it can stay viable outside of a human host.

But that inland mediterranean winter climate which is typical of northern Spain, northern Italy, northern Iran and Wuhan (I looked it up) seems especially favourable for the virus. Would be nervous for northern Syria and other parts of the middle east,other parts of the mediterranean region and parts of the USA - at least for those areas with large populations

Worryingly it seems all these colder countries are just a bit behind the Med.

I believe that there is still a good chance of hotter climates killing it off though.

Costa Rica currently has 23 confirmed cases and many more suspected although there's only capacity at the moment to test up to 90 people per day.

I am seriously worried about Solid's state of mind. He appears to have been in a state of high anxiety for some time now.
Solid, if you read this, please try and seek advice and hopefully some degree of reassurance/perspective from a medic.

His family have been worried about him for some time, and he went to see his GP who signed him off work and suggested he tried to take his mind off the virus. I've reminded him of the advice he was given a few times, but he ignores it and keeps posting here.

Likewise though I'm sure I read on here he had sought help on this anxiety recently . This is where my problem is with the media, they are leading people with serious anxiety problems towards potential breakdowns.

Solid would be having the same issue regardless of what the media write. He's got access to the internet and will find the most exaggerate predictions and take them as reality. He said he expects half of the worlds population to die from the virus.

There must be a point at which the sample gives enough of an indication as to the eventual spread
