My wife and mother of our kids has a lung condition called Sarcoidosis, Dr already says shes in higher risk category, elderly mum has Parkinsons.

So I'll leave this out here, not as an endorsement, but just what I did.

I posted about 10 days ago about one specific drug, of the few that have been used extensively on Coronovirus patients, and with a lot of reports of success from various quarters. Its an HIV drug main brand name is called Kaletra (its been used widely in China, Japan, Thailand and Spain with many reports of patients dramatically improving). Kaletra has many cheaper generic versions, its basically a combo of 2 drugs Lopinavir and Ritonavir in 200/50mg strength. Its not a cure, it cannot rid your body of Covid19 only your immune system can, but its a Protease inhibitor, it blocks the protease which is required by the coronovirus to replicate in the body. Blocking it stops replication.

I have used a specific company based in India before, for a different medication available in the country my wife comes from (not UK) that was not available in the the UK, it was definitely real that time. They even have plenty of reviews on trustpilot in the UK from people who have bought from them. I obviosuly cannot guarantee anything this time except my experience shared honestly.

This is the kaletra generic on their site, but they again said 'Lopimune' advertised, was out of stock and offered me another Indian manufactured (and slightly cheaper) generic called HIV-US, which I also checked and read about in great detail. https://www.genericday.com/lopimune-tablet.html

Truth is the $70 per bottle is about 2-3x the actual price locally, the $25 courier is fixed whether you order 1 or 2. or $95 all in you'll get 1 bottle. I ordered 2 bottles 8 days ago, it arrived by postman today and they even had sense to mark price for customs as $14 to avoid tax. Its expiry is Dec 2021.

I dont expect to use it, really hope to lob it away in a year. Its a last chance saloon nuclear option. Will hope it all goes away and blows over, try and avoid it in the meantime, and place ourselves in the hands of the NHS if we do catch it..... but it was obvious a week ago, that what is happening in Italy and what will likely occur here with no beds available and not treating certain categories of sicker/elderly patients would be the case, and on that basis, if the Italy situation does occur here, I wasn't prepared to just sit and watch the Mrs or my mum die if priority is given to someone else.

Maybe if that all seems a bit far fetched today, fair enough. I cant do anymore than that, and hope it is wildy OTT. but feel just that little bit happier that's at least up the sleeve if it ever gets to that.

It doesn't seem far fetched to me, thanks for posting. I'm considering this for my parents, my Dad in particular who has various reasons for being high risk. What would the dosage be?

I, as someone, who suffered badly with a random bout of pneumonia in my early 30s in spite of having zero health issues should be terrified, very nearly dead, or soon to be dead by your logic... but guess what?!? I’m not and nor is this going to ****ing stop me. It didn’t last time, it will not this.

Be careful with scaremongering, it’s needy and pathetic.

Anyone staying at home if they have a sniffle? Listening to a program on the radio and they seem to be suggesting you should....i have what i regard as a ‘normal’ cough and cold and i carry on working ....being self employed i don't have much choice ..at least i work outdoors and on my own

I have a regular cold and have been at work. Just had a colleague say to me I should think about working from home. More than happy to do this, especially as I can't do most of my job from home (specialist software on machines without internet access for security etc). I'll tell them I called 111 and was advised to stay home for a bit. Homes Under The Hammer for me!

My wife runs an ITU/HDU ward and I'm pretty sure there is literally no spare capacity at any time. However, there may be clinical decisions that move some people on to other words on a needs basis. Used to be a case that things eased off during the summer but not so much now. We also don't fund enough beds, for example, in Germany there are 31.8 ICU beds per 1000 of the population compared to 7.5 in the UK (reported in 2014). There is a difference in classification of ICU between the two countries but it is still clearly a massive difference but then you get what you pay for.

This is why I think we ought to go in to a kind of semi-lockdown now before there are too many cases out in the open. Take football as a microcosm, thousands of people gathering closely and moving to different areas of the UK every other week, then factor in motorway service stations and busy railway stations where infections can transfer and spread all over the UK.

Why is our Government doing less than all other Governments?

Czech Republic just announced their 40th case - and they’re shutting down large public events? We, on the other hand will announce our 500th case today and everything is still running as normal.

Is it because the Prime Minister (sub Cummings), has the policy of take it on the chin. He has said as much to Pholly and Hill.
I suspect our Chief Medical Officer is a bit nervous of our Dom.

We seem to be the only country impacted that seems to have that policy?

If you do PM and I'll send you links to what is stated is coronavirus dosage so you can see yourself. It says 400/100 twice per day for 2 weeks. 400/100 is 2 tablets of 200/50. So 4 tablets per day for 2 weeks = 56 for one person. 1 bottle has 60.

This thread (or the last few pages of it I've actually read) has been a bit of a wake-up call for me as I had been well in the laughing at pasta-hoarders camp. The reports from Italy are concerning, seems to me inevitable things are going to get worse in the UK before they get better, and that taking precautions and being more aware will only help improve the odds of you not being one of the affected ones.
