The population of the world is probably too many as of today, so diseases like this might actually be a good thing in the long run in controlling the population. Nature trying to redress the balance.

Top yourself if you're so concerned about over population.

I suspect we will all be self isolating at one point or another in the future. Really hope I'm wrong. If it hits us down here, keep your elderly parents and grandparents indoors.

The world was in denial about this from day one, was seen as "China's problem" - the only reason the world is waking up is because the poor stock markets around the world have crashed, oh boo who.

If the rest of the world had taken decisive action 5 weeks ago we wouldn't find ourselves in this mess. We would of taken a temporary hit but would of saved hundreds of millions of lives. Now we are faced with months and months of anguish and uncertainty.

They should be disgusted with themselves.

Not probably too many, definitely too many. And I tend to agree with you.

It's a crappy situation we have all been left in now. We can only hope they get these vaccines tested and out to people asap, but like everything else it will come down too money.

Is there just a possibility that this is all a storm in a tea cup? How many people who have died were fit and well and under 65? Thousands of people die of flu every year. All this is is flu. A slightly more dangerous version than the usual one, but it's still only flu. In my opinion the whole thing is being wildly over-egged. A few thousand people are going to die. They will mostly be elderly and infirm. Many of them would probably have died of flu anyway. Stop the panic!

Experts have warned of school closures and the cancellation of major sporting events, concerts and festivals in the UK in a bid to stop the spread of the virus, which causes Covid-19.

England's chief medical officer, Prof Chris Whitty, said transmission of the virus between people in the UK was "just a matter of time".

He said if the outbreak intensifies, it may be necessary to close schools and stop mass gatherings of people for "quite a long period of time, probably more than two months", including audiences at sporting events, pop concerts and religious ceremonies.

Shame, I thought your absence from this thread meant you we’re taking a break from hysteria.

Sorry Jurgen, but we've had to cancel the Premier League for this season and declare the results null and void !

The Swiss Government has just banned all events involving more than 1,000 people.

Panic is spreading further and faster than the virus
