Main Coronavirus / Covid-19 Discussion Thread

yes....if you are worried about going out for your own safety( either age wise or underlying health) then stay indoors , go out early or late to get your shopping or get a family member to help if willing .......if you are young , fit and bulletproof then get on with life ......just be aware that if you are susceptible for whatever reason then you may be dead within a week .....it's my take mate , too many people on this planet and **** knows there's too many idiots .....the health workers are a concern though , 3 nurses in my house but we are virtually (covid.) free here so we are lucky....i don't actually know one person who's even had it...???

Couldn't agree more mate and likewise live in landlady is a carer and cared for covid patients and lost a few too however, myself, not known anyone who has had it and despite,as I said my landlady just does the cleaning protocol each day in terms of washing hands washing her uniform and wearing masks when attending a virus patient but other than that there is no social distancing within the home and cooking/drinking chores just carried out as normal.

Cinemas should be so easy to open.

Pre-Ticket selling is already norm with seat selection.

I read an article re the chap who owns the Picturedrome in Bognor as well as other small cinemas in Sussex; he was seriously concerned. The likes of Cineworld will be ok.
We love the Connaught Theatre in Worthing, I hope they can survive.

The 2m will kill them

As you say the larger ones will he fine as they already have a system in place, lots of screens they can work with as well.

i have on authority that Cineworld have postponed their intended reopening by a week or so. they are awaiting the decision on 1m rule, assuming it will be made and they'll open with 1m, rather than open with 2m then faff about for a week and change.

Probably just me, but it really feels like is obsessing with the wrong thing again (Herd immunity Part 2). My take on social distancing is that 1m outside isn't a risk, indoors in a busy building with poor airflow, I think 4 metres is probably about right. Before everyone starts jumping down my throat I fully realise this is unworkable. What is realistic then is to manage the number of active infections down to, such a small number that the chances of you meeting someone who is infected are minimal and then to keep it there.

Currently we have just over 1,000 new cases per day, with a period of up to 10 days when you are contagious, we have maybe 10,000 known contagious individuals, maybe as many again we don't know about. How many of these are in hospital, how many are known to be self isolating and who are these people? As many people have already pointed out, they probably aren't walking around in your neighbourhood. They might though be on a plane heading halfway across the world to visit a dying relative, so they might not be in your area now, but they sure can move when they need to.

They other really irritating theory going around, is that the virus might be weakening. And the Earth may be flat! We have had some of the most brilliant and dedicated minds on the planet working on this non-stop for the last 6 months. Collectively those brilliant and extraordinary people, have just got much better at treating people.

I want to see the lockdown eased in a practical way and then infections properly managed. If we get this right and so many other countries are doing so well in this regard, we can return to a semblance of normality (there have been some good changes, if you look hard enough). Social distancing doesn't matter if you are never likley to encounter the virus. Currently it feels like the chances of coming across an active carrier, are the equivalent of seeing somewhere vaguely famous you might recognise. That is fine, but come October I don't want to be on a packed train, or a busy supermarket, with everyone pushing in out of the rain and having someone coughing down the back of my neck.

Yes, I believe they are planning to open in England on 10th July and Wales, Scotland and Ireland when permitted.

I worry for the future of the depot cinema in Lewes. With any social distancing their 3 screens are totally unviable as a going concern. A tremendous shame

What we're seeing is the massive difference between the ability of the to virus spread indoors and outdoors.

Outside it is very difficult to infect others, whilst indoors the virus can spread far more readily as the story from Florida where 16 friends visited a bar for their first post-lockdown night out, and every single one of them got infected, with seven members of staff also testing positive: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...acksonville-new-cases-phase-two-a9571071.html

It’s all about the virus load that a person may have, let’s say a scale 1-10 if you come into contact with a person with virus load 1 you may see mild symptoms, if virus load 10 sneezes on a bus your all f.ucked and will be on a ventilator. This is how younger people have died it’s all about the virus load of the person you come in contact with.

That's a whopper and a half. Any supporting evidence for those claims at all?
