This is a useful graph, one Swansman in particular might find interesting.

If that , is in anyway correct, we have made one horrendous miss calculation that my kids my grand kids and their kids will be paying for.

Great chart. Goes to show the models are full of nonsense and our economy and way of life are being destroyed for no good reason.

Although, objectively - it could be read that Sweden is following the model, and just hasn't yet entered the exponential growth stage indicated by the blue and yellow areas - which could be in the future on current practices?

I might be being stupid here so the c4500 cases today were those tested. Is that correct?

Undoubtedly there are more untested 'new' cases that are mild or asymptomatic, and not needing attention but there's still 4500 a day needing medical attention.

If it was only 15% and in fact there are really 60,000 cases a day I guess that's good news, but during a lockdown?

Well I think testing is increasing so may be catching more people now but certainly when I had about 9 of the 12 or so symptoms a couple of weeks ago you couldn't get anywhere near a test without heading to a hospital needing additional treatment. Also Hospitalisation usually occurs about day 10 which means new cases may be much smaller now.

There have been many hundreds of cases of younger people who have died from coronavirus. Without lockdown, it would have been many many thousands.

Over 5% according to the Guardian.

Died from or died with? How many had underlying health problems and were going to die anyway? Ah found this on worldometer. In New York 4.5% of all deaths 18-44 of which 244 of the 309 had underlying conditions so therefore may have been their time regardless.

My personal concerns over all this are the delays in the treatment of cancer patients. My wife was diagonised 16 days ago with colon/ bowel cancer after having emergency surgery for a life threatening abscess and sepsis condition. It took 8 weeks for colerectal dept to even get back to us with that news..it came out of the blue... her local GP inadvertently told us her CT lung scan was ok whilst discussing antibiotics with her... we have not been told where she will have surgery (Worthing or Bastingstoke) at times I feel they have neglected her... we are still waiting for the plan of attack... they cannot leave the treatment of a 50 year old women on some sort of backburner....

Fingers crossed for you both/all.

It's possible that some of those with underlying health issues may have died anyway, but it's certain that not all would have. Many people with underlying health issues (like asthma) live well into old age.

I know people won’t like this, but I like Matt Hancock, you can see in his eyes he is under so much pressure and I’m sure mistakes have been made by many, but you can see he really cares he doesn’t come across as clinical and emotionless like some. As a human being I feel for him.

Much more positives coming out of the briefing today, hospital occupation down 10% on this time last week and ICU occupations mostly below 50% and decreasing

Evidence from the US is emerging that the virus was spreading unseen weeks earlier than previously thought. The first official death from coronavirus in the US was on February 29, but now it is known that there were deaths from the disease on February 6 and February 17. There are estimates that there could have been at least 10 infected people in New York as early as the last week of January.

Hidden Outbreaks Spread Through U.S. Cities Far Earlier Than Americans Knew, Estimates Say

A healthy woman suddenly died. She was the first known coronavirus fatality in US

I think the briefing today will attempt to put a more positive spin on what we are all doing as after Whitty yesterday there must be millions of people thinking, what's the f ing point ?
The point is the daily death level is over 600 and decreasing, not over 1000 and increasing.

The Argus continuing their everyone is flocking to brighton beach narrative. I've passed the beach twice today and sure , there were people there but not many. The guy from the argus seemed to be suggesting people were travelling to brighton especially to.go.to the beach
