So it's acceptable to cough and splutter all over people in times like this then?
It's not ok to want to protect your loved ones from a very deadly disease?
Where you the guy in Eastbourne by any chance?

FWIW - yes I've had anxiety issues recently, but strangely enough, it's not been as bad as what it was 6-10 weeks ago, when at that time, helmets like you dismissed this as "its just a flu bro"

Now, because people - like yourself - didn't take this seriously, we have no sport, we have people fighting over stuff in supermarkets, we've got countries (rightly) locked down, and worst of all we have got thousands and thousands (if no action is taken, soon to be millions) of people dieing.

Don’t be ridiculous. This isn’t down to people 6 weeks ago saying it’s just the flu. We also don’t know how effective lock downs are yet. The lock down in Wuhan was off the scale in terms of restrictions. South Korea haven’t locked down to the same effective, but they’ve got a surveillance / technology route with tracking and monitoring most western countries couldn’t contemplate. Locking down hasn’t slowed Italy yet either. Many people on here saying countries responses are similar but different to the UK are missing the finer details of those countries.

In Wuhan people will be dying through neglect and being lift isolated even if they don’t have the virus. There is a massive risk in the UK the vulnerable under lockdown could be even more at risk from being left than the virus.

No easy answers or solutions.

Herd Immunity, if that is indeed the UK Govt's preferred tactic, is utterly inhumane and should be slapped down by the populace earlydoors

Here here our countries alternative response, is being run by the nutter, from the Notting Hill travel bookstore

This is something that newspapers like to trot out. There is faecal matter on literally everything we touch. It’s just a fact of life.

Sure, but McDonald's is a place where people eat and shit - and the implication (rightly or wrongly) is that McDonald's customers are less hygienic than average.

Of course, others are grim too. KFC screens (and windows) are nasty, grease central.

A sensible and balanced post.

Terrible if this happens, particularly for those who live alone and may well be deprived of any social contact.
Given the current me me approach that many people are unfortunately displaying I'm not sure that the community spirit that the Government are hoping for will materialise. I really hope I am wrong on this.

If this four months is correct than the virus is clearly going to be impacting our lives well into July, which is a concern.

So it's fine for you to switch from anxiety to.the point of people on here being concerned for your wellbeing to attacking those same people and accusing them.of all sorts.

Incidentally having read many of your posts on this subject you clearly have an issue with the way our government are dealing with it yet in this post you appear to say we which I take to mean this country as a result of our government's actions, have thousands and thousands of people dying.
Now unless I'm in a time warp we have not long passed 1000 positive tests and 21 deaths. Where is the evidence of these thousands and thousands of deaths here at this stage

As of the 13th there were 0 (zero) reported cases of the virus in East Sussex.

As much as I get what you're saying and I have no intention to belittle your opinions but nevertheless it is quite a leap to go from no cases to stuck in a lift with a 'victim' in the space of 12 hours.

Jon Ronson, the most anxious of anxious men, has a theory that in such times of heightened anxiety, he (they) are the people you need in the trenches.
His theory being he's lived out this kind of scenario so many times, now it's actually happening he's pretty calm about it.

I'm more of a fatalist which I guess kind of puts me in the same boat, but I'm unlikely to keep the spirits up!

I'm not at that extreme and probably far nearer average. Thinking a lot more about actions and cleanliness than usual. Different ways to open doors, gloves for buttons or if not an option armed with wipes and anti bac.
Some people wont change no matter how often it is spoken about and think these things dont apply to them

Sorry, I'm not picking on you but what, exactly will anti-bacterial wipes do to a virus?

I've been wondering this ever since the supermarket shelves have been stripped of anti-bacterial gel and wipes

Indeed. And while they're at it they can find a way to close the Shengen area, undo commercial global trade agreements, stop the car, boat, donkey and ski working and find a solution to the artificial borders drawn all over the world by post war bureaucracy. Oh, and also stop viruses from being so damned airborne.

In fact, the best solution is probably just to shoot anyone who sneezes, just in case.

It would have bought a lot of time. So you think it was handled correctly. How could we be in a bigger mess than now?

Better than nothing at all I guess. Dont venture out all that much to be fair. Would rather keep.myself clean and not touch dirty surfaces though. For.what it's worth it's not items.ive recently purchased so nothing to do with the panic buying

You can clean the virus off a surface with wipes, but as we both know, anti-bac won't kill it unless it's 60%+ alcohol.
