One thing that people seem to be ignoring is that Italy is NOT a "first world country" by anything other than name. It's a gangster run group of areas and it has ZERO cohesion when it comes to government, education, law, tax and certainly healthcare.
Basically it's a bit like America but with no money.
It's not really a surprise that the Italians have managed to make a total b####cks of this.

I'm firmly in the "couldn't care less" camp on this issue btw. Apart from if they cock up our trip to Spain for my son's cricket camp in a couple of weeks by the pathetic panic drama. Then I'll be mildly annoyed.

Italy also has one of the oldest populations in the world, 5% more over 60’s than we have here.

Pretty scary reading in that Tomas Pueyo piece, but it's very well argued. Seems pretty clear that social distancing, now, is the best chance we have of slowing this thing down, and saving lives.
Well it is to the rest of the world who allowed unencumbered travel in and out of there for weeks.
You should have communicated your concerns to the WHO and UK Chief Medical Officer

It's alright just saw on the news the governments giving millions or billions if they need it to the NHS!
