Very good news for the majority, as Mr Johnson attempts to stifle the call for resignation with the sound of face masks being ripped up.

However, please spare a thought for those not so fortunate.

Here is a small sample, if you could spend a little time to think of them, and the many thousands in their situation...

I actually can't remember what Plan A is.

Perhaps I'll write to Johnson as he seems pretty clued up on the rules.

I presume I can boozily party where and when I want. Lol.

The UK has seen 17,371 deaths from where there are no other underlying causes involved (to the end of September 2021).

https://www.ons.gov.uk/aboutus/tran...eathsfromcovid19withnootherunderlyingcauses?s

That mean the remaining 146,512 deaths during to the end of September where Covid is mentioned on the certificate had some kind of underlying condition.

Just goes to highlight how how much of a bugger this virus has been for these people. Hopefully with the emergence of Omicron and the vaccine's we won't continue to see this number increase too much higher.

Respiratory viruses are always a beggar for these people. Even in 2021 with lockdowns and people dying of covid, there were still 188,000 people with other respiratory diseases on their death certificates, and 54,000 of them as the underlying cause.

Of the 188k, 105k were flu and pneumonia and 83k other non-covid diseases.
Of the 54k, 16k were flu and pneumonia (only about half the usual number) and 38k other non-covid diseases.

Close to a third of deaths every year have some sort of repiratory disease as the cause. I think sometimes the primary cause of death is that people just stop breathing.

Drakeford sticks his UK two pennies worth in, ignoring all what’s known now about Omicron, in effect rigid thinking that’s it the same as the Alpha, Beta and Delta variants.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-60076381

Omicron (with the fantastic booster programme) simply hasn’t filled hospitals, ICU wards are very quiet compared to Jan 2021.

We got (almost certainly Delta) in Finland in early December. Ill for about 10 days, coughing and very tired, took a while longer to get fitness back.

Some family and friends had a party in the UK just before Christmas, including folk in their 60’s. 11 out of the 15 got Covid, every one just felt like they had a bad cold for 2 days, then all right as rain. Probably Omicron.

Delta and Omicron are very different. The Precautionary Principle isn’t apt just now.

You can tell Boris has made an announcement. Just been to pick my daughter up from nursery and everyone is suddenly barging in instead of queuing, no masks or anything.

We must be doing something right here in Wales. We are keeping the masks in shops rules and rightly so.
