According to them....Southampton's rock bottom of the league, relegated squad has a higher transfer value than ours. That says everything you need to know about that website.
transfermarkt’s valuations aren’t great, but they still offer a decent baseline for player valuations.

Yes, Southampton’s squad is more valuable at the moment according to transfermarkt than ours (even though this is definitely not the case) for two reasons:
1) transfermarkt has yet to complete their end of season update for the premier league in terms of valuing players
2) transfermarkt doesn’t take form into account as much as it should.

transfermarkt values Enciso at 11m, Ferguson at 10m, Buonnotte at 9m. These players are all significantly underrated by transfermarkt, largely because the last update to player valuations was in March. When the next update release, it’s likely that all these players values will go up to a more reasonable number, but still perhaps not one, we as fans would deem fair.

I feel like another perfect example here of transfermarkt’s flaws in Tariq Lamptey. At his peak, transfermarkt valued him at 18m, and he’s currently valued at 15m. IMO, at his peak, he was worth much more than 18m, but currently, we would struggle getting 15m for him.

In time, valuations will make more sense. I feel like transfermarkt’s valuations are very good at comparing players at the exact same age. For example, it provides a good sense of our teenage prospects in relation to other teenagers in the world. But as a whole, transfermarkt underrates young players, in part fearing that there valuaes are quite unstable and could crash (or soar) given only a few good (or poor) performances

The website is actually a really good resource for player and club info. It's only the valuations that are nonsense. I'm happy to ignore this as I'm of the view that all player valuations are nebulous and subject to constant change. Pretty much everything you read anywhere is guesswork, or drip feeding from interested parties.
Exactly what I’ve been saying to the “we sell too many players cheaply” brigade. A player is worth precisely what another club is prepared to pay, with factors including a bidding war and length of contract. It’s like two paintings by the same artist. If one has provenance and more than one interested bidder it’ll go for more than one that doesn’t, even if the latter is the “better” painting

These aren't the players you're looking for.

Sounds like an episode of Bargain Hunt. There are a few exceptional antiques currently available if that's your thing.

Sergio Busquets. Say no more. A bit of a stretch to imagine him playing in the stripes, but he's still only 34 and available on a free.

Other unlikely free transfers are Ilkay Gundogan 32, Tony Kroos 33, Roberto Firmino 31 and N'golo Kante 32. Any of those 'old men' would be nice and soften the loss of our Alexis please Mr.Bloom.

I think you can forget about all of them.

If this and Milner are done soon then even with Mac & Moises likely going it leaves us in a pretty decent position. I'd still like some of the incoming fees to be spent on a quality centre mid, but even without that we'd have Dahoud, Milner, Gilmour, Moder, Ayari, Gross, Lallana, Kozlowski, Alzate, and probably others to select from for the centre mid spots.

Great stuff. Looking forward to the Hollywood signing in CM. My money is still on Fratessi, dream of Le Fee.

There are a few potential sick notes in there.
