Other teams have welcomed their world cup winner onto the pitch pre match, think its appropriate to do the same. Not sure why anyone would be against that. Its a player we want to keep at the club, and its not like we commonly have world cup winners playing for us.

To my mind the time to do that has passed.

1 . . . Ally Mac took too long to return.
2 . . . Our fixture list was unkind and we didn't have a home match soon enough when he did eventually get back.

The World Cup is becoming all but a memory to many people.

It's not Ally Mac's fault that he took too long to return. He was quite rightly given the time off.

If there were some official acknowledgement next Saturday, I am sure people would join in enthusiastically. He's OUR hero!

He is going to get a huge reception anyway so doesn't need anything fancy but it would be nice if he could be substituted in the last minute and the substitution is announced with 'Number blah blah is replacing World Cup Winner blah blah blah. In terms of scanning, I’m in the camp where you use the same number of syllables or beats as in the original. You’ve indicated 9 here. The original Oasis song has 11 in that line.
