Lynch denied transfer request

The one person that doesn't seem to have been given a mention on this thread is probably the most influential in Lynch's decision to submit the request in the first place, his agent.

Lynch is a promising CB but prone to the odd lapse in concerntration. He is not currently more promising than Elphick who had an outstanding season last year. Lynch will get opportunities and it is up to him to make sure when he gets the shirt he keeps it whether that be at CB or LB.

But the club haven't stopped him leaving, they've turned down his transfer request and this is not the same thing.

I'll ignore the comment about DK because that has been discussed above, but why is this bad man-management by MA?

Are you saying he should pick Joel to just keep him happy, even though he does not think he is one of our two best centre-backs at the moment?

For all you know, Joel might get on fine with MA and respect his decision not to pick him even if he disagrees with it and doesn't like it. Most players have that situation at some time in their careers and they react as they see fit - work at getting into the first team or ask for a transfer to get first-team football somewhere else. I wouldn't necessarily criticise either of those options, but I don't see how not picking a player automatically means bad man-management.

I suspest that Lynch simply wants to go to get guaranteed first team football. MA has probably turned down the request because he rates Joel Lynch and knows that during the course of the season will make an important contribution.
It was always going to be difficult to keep all the centre backs at the club happy because they can't all play at once. Does not mean that here have been fallings out.

If Lynch comes in and playes a blinder on Saturday I suspest Hawkins will have to then try and force his way back into the team.

Sad that he wants to go so soon, but still makes the decision to play Hawkins ahead of him look ridiculous, if it's going to mean losing such a great prospect.

Why is it ridiculous? 7 points out of 9 and a win in the cup would seem to justify Adams' decision.
With the pressure on MA to do better than Wilkins last season he needs to pick the team that will get results now - not the team with the best potential for the future.

Thanks for clearing this up Andytosser; I was asleep for most of the second half so missed Lynch's goal and have thought ever since that we'd only scraped a draw.

I'm amazed the thread got this far before anyone pointed this out. Perhaps he thought your man Johnny's clearance over the opposition bar took a deflection off of Joel, but then again, that would of meant 3pts Does make you wonder about the accuracy of such reporting.

If this report is true, then could it just be Lynch testing the waters ? If MA's response was as reported then the feedback for Lynch is surely positive ?

Not great English, but I did assume he was talking about his last appearance as opposed to his last goal.

It would be a great shame if we are to lose Lynch. I guess a flurry of centre backs signing is going to unsettle someone and Lynch lost out to Hawkins.

Adams seems to be given the benefit of the doubt so far. With managers past, it would blatently have been their fault.

Not necessarily true as I believe there was a discussion on here recently that stated that players who are sold when they don't want to leave, ie they haven't handed in a request are entitled to a percentage of the fee

Over the summer Adams signed Virgo, Hawkins, Richards and Mayo - 2 centre backs and 2 left backs. Elphick was already a shoe-in for one of those centre-back positions.

That indicates to me that Adams did not think Lynch was the finished article, or felt that he was expendable - if he did then why waste wages on Mayo when we have less depth upfront?

It's all conjecture and supposition, but I suspect Adams knows he can get a decent fee for Lynch and wants a decent 1st XI player or £400-£500K out of it, either way. The present situation where we have neither is no good to this club.

Rubbish. Lynch is still only a good prospect and our record so far this season shows that Adams knows what he's doing. He's bought someone in with experience, something that last season we lacked when Butters wasn't in the side. Elphick is far and away better than Lynch and shoud be in the side so it's Lynch that has to wait his turn. If he's going to throw his toys out of the pram as he's not playing then we should get shot. Or he can just knuckle down, work hard in training and fight for his place, like most professionals do.

what? players who are sold are given money just because we don't want them?

i'm dubious to say the least.

if i was a manager and wanted to sell a player, i would make it seem like i still wanted them so as to keep more bargaining power in any transfer negotiations.

he obviously didn't sign virgo as a defender though, did he? and hawkins was a replacement for butters.

Virgo not signed as a defender?? Given the fact before this season he's hardly scored a goal in 2 years or played midfield then I'd dispute that.

The facts about Richards and Mayo were that they were gone from this club - adios. Adams resigned them both. One of the points I was making is you don't NEED to replace both Richards AND Mayo if you think Lynch is a decent left-back who you'll keep all season.
