Commentators losing the plot a little here. An extra batting point here makes no difference to Sussex. Getting closer to Yorkshire is the most important thing, to have it in our hands we will have to win now, as a draw would require a lot of rain.

Missed out on the 2nd batting point by two runs :( 248 all out. Great effort by the lads though.

Hatchett out!

One innings match, we have to win. Unless Hampshire don't. It is that simple now.

We can draw! ???

Pretty unlikely on this pitch in these conditions, with 7 sessions remaining. Two scores of 250. They rarely go up as the match goes on. Maybe some prolonged rain tomorrow would make that a possibility.

Maybe, but with a dry couple of days already, pitch might play well for the next couple of days. Yorkshire will bat the rest of today and tomorrow if they can, so it could be a day of survival on Friday...long way to go mind.

The most curious thing..
This may have been flagged earlier but I'm not trawling throughthe whole thread...

Steve Magoffin had feared his first-class career was over six months before he arrived at Sussex as a stopgap overseas signing. Since then the Australian has become one of county cricket's most stalwart performers

Hants still going - 248-8

Need them out soon to keep a victory out of the equation.

so, Yorkshire 39-1 with over 2 days to go.

Hants still batting at 281-8 and Notts bowling part timers...

anyone else getting a little nervous?

Second division here we come. You just know that Pants are going to do us. Hope I'm wrong but it does not look good. Cannot see us beating Yorks and Notts seem intent on giving it to the Solent boys.
