We seem to be good at coaching bowlers, but incapable of getting the best out of our batsmen.

A disgrace really.
Nash shown no form for a time now and Yardy who we know has had his personal problems looks overweight and unfit. Rather have lunch and back to the pub than bat!

These two have now added 51. Our #7 and #10 were making it look easy.
Who is responsible for the quality of technique and general batting competence that has been consistently demonstrated by our lower order this season ...?

Maybe we need to advertise for a coach of batsmen listed 1-6 in the order...?

Yardy, Wells, Nash and Cachopa have had disappointing starts to the season. They have not been helped by having to bat multiple times in extremely bowler friendly conditions.

I am a Sussex fan and will always be supportive of our players when it is humanly possible. Unlike the footballers they are not on ridiculous money and they all work hard at their games.

I have to say that interspersing 20/20 cricket and county 4-day matches is not a good idea. We're struggling to produce world class players in either form of the game. Surely it is better to get your league season out of the way by, say, the third week of July, then have your 20/20 and one-day tournaments in the school holidays? That separation would be better for focus and technique. It would also help define each of the separate competitions.

The batting lineup is misfiring badly, one of Gnasher and Wells will usually go for cheap and open the door to the middle order. Joyce has not hit sustained form this term and poor old Yards is past his best. Catchdropper is out of his depth and Brown had lost his midas touch compared to last term. Lukey started like a rocket but, like a rocket, has fizzled out. It seems we have to rely on the bowlers to get us up to any sort of total.

We have also lost the killer instinct when we have a team on the floor. Century partnerships between 6-7-8-9 are commonplace and we can't stop them. Other than that...

Yes, agreed. Can you now implement please.

.

Bit harsh on Brown: he made a 50 on a dodgy wicket to win us the game against Warks, has scored a ton and has an average of 36.5: I wouldn't mind betting that's one of the better averages for a number 7 in the CC.

It's Nash, Yardy, Joyce and Wright (and to a certain extent Wells) we should be looking at - they're our senior players: we're nearly halfway through the season and not one of them has scored a ton yet. The trouble is that they pretty much know they're safe no matter what sort of form they're in as we haven't got enough batsmen to replace them. Our bowlers have been great this year and will stop us from being relegated but it could have been so much better
