what do people eat at lunchtime?

i'm bored of trying to think of cheap, easy to make, convenient & reasonably healthy foods to eat at lunchtime.

im in an office most days of the week and i've tried everything.

homemade sandwiches
pasta + a protein
rice + a protein
jacket potato + a filling
salad + a protein

etc etc etc... i've come to the conclusion that for price & convenience a shop made sandwich is actually not a bad deal. most are around £2. thats £40 a month. i've struggled to make lunches myself for much less. maybe you save £5-£10 a month if you try hard or eat minimal food but this just isnt possible for a normal man!

so what the hell do you eat? any new ideas? or shall i just stick to my shop made sandwich...?

Cup a Soup and a roll for me. Chuck in a bit of fruit or veg and its not a bad little option.

Sleeping on the roof
salad composed of: baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, cubed cheese, Rochelle Mediterranean herb croutons and a healthy dollop of Tesco Caesar salad dressing

Costs around £8 a week.

Current lunchtime favourites:

- Baxters Scotch Broth, a tasty highland treat
- Innocent Veg Pots, 3 of your 5 a day currently very reasonably half-priced £1.80 at Sainsburys

I changed at the start of this year. I alwasy used to buy my breakfast every morning when I got neat the office in London (a Tea and a bit of cake from Pret) and a sandwich or two a lunchtime from one of the places round here (Pret, Eat, Marks etc.). I realised at xmas that this was costing me not far short of £10 a day, and while money isn't a problem, that was a lot, so I decided to make my own for a while and am still doing it.

So, each day I have a piece of fruit and a svoury bite (small sausage roll or something similar) for breakfast and for lunch a sandwich, a savoury bite or two and another piece of fruit.

I actually like my own lunches just as much, if not more than the bought stuff and I reckon I'm saving £200 a month or thereabouts.
