I agree, Concept2 is the gold standard. We’ve got a water rower and that’s still going strong after 10 years (although I don’t use it as much as I should)
No one in their right mind using an erg as much as they should. I positively hate it. it was fine when it was something to use at the gym but as soon as you have targets😫

Well, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that my weight hasn't decreased by any discernable amount overnight.

The good news is that I misread my scales (which only give the weight in lbs and kg) and I actually weigh 14st 12lb.

INSTANT SUCCESS! :lolol::facepalm:
Actual progress to report. Now down to 14st 8lbs, so 4lbs down from the starting weight.

Definitely time for some new scales as my weight is continuing to fluctuate my 4 lbs day on day which makes no sense.

Anyone recommend a reliable, non-smart set of scales that isn't too expensive? Ta

132kg down to 130.6kg so about 3 pounds down in week 1.

I’ve not been particularly strict the whole time but have managed portion sizes better and cut most of the bread out which has made a difference. Any sins have been in moderation.


I do an hours weights in the morning and 30 mins (2 mile walk) straight after and have been doing this for a a while (if you want a benchmark on how much shit I eat since stopping smoking!!)

This week I’ve also introduced a stepper which I use for 5-10 mins between meetings and als 10 mins a hour before dinner to fire up the metabolism, despite my under active thyroid it’s nice to see some results from the effort.

I’d rather lose my weight over a 9 month period with some treats and moderation built in rather than a strict 5 months period of hell.

Good to see so many on here sticking to it. Hoping this thread continues into the new year 👍🏻
i believe its generally considered better to walk AFTER dinner . aids in digestion and blood sugar. very popular in asian societies

120.5kg (-1.3kg on yesterday. +0.2kg since Nov 1). All that yo-yoing about this week and all I've got to show for it is a 200g gain. Maybe I'll stick to reporting my weight weekly, especially as my post count has skyrocketed from 1 in the last 7 years to something almost approaching double figures in the space of a week.

3.5 kg loss (7.5lb)

I have been following the Michael Mosley Fast 800 diet (including time restricted eating so nothing apart from water and herbal tea before11:00 and after 19:00) for just over three weeks and have lost 11kg. It has been remarkably easy - no bad carbs, no booze and 800 calories/day.

I am a bit worried what will happen when I stop but I'll deal with when it happens.

Fri 8 Nov: 84.5kg (13st 4lb), body fat 17.4%

Loss so far: 2.0kg (5lb)
Target weight: 83.5kg (13st 2lb)

This morning’s weigh-in will be slightly skewed by me having played 90 minutes of 5-a-side last night and I am still dehydrated.

However, the trend is good, as I was still 1.2kg down yesterday.

What’s more pleasing is that I haven’t had to radically change my lifestyle. I’ve maybe done one extra session on the turbo trainer this week than I would have ordinarily done. I’ve also been eating the same meals as usual. The difference - I’ve cut out all snacking between meals. So this should be broadly sustainable in the longer term. It’s also indicative of how much crap I was eating between meals previously - the perils of working from home for the majority of time!

Week 1 change: loss of 2.6lb.

Not too bad, given that's really only four days worth I guess.

Main changes I've made this week...

- Walking quicker. For example, my regular 3.1-mile pre-dawn hilly dog walk would generally take about an hour. I've brought that down to about 50 minutes
- One slice of marmite on toast for breakfast instead of two.
- Limited/no snacking.
- No booze (other than Friday night)
- Not eating anything after dinner

That's a good start. It's down. Do that for three months and you've lost over a stone. I wonder if it needs to be painful and how you could make it sustainable in the long term?
Thanks CBH. I think if I'm being honest that last weekend and midweek (curries/beers which had been pre-planned) stuffed me. Should be a better show next week I hope (nothing major planned).
