(It will come as no surprise to some that I have been weighing myself regularly (daily this year) and have a spreadsheet with graphs for the last several years. For no reason other than because I can.)

But that's no reason not to get started right now. Don't put it off. Why not start your new habits right now?

If you've stopped smoking and stopped vaping, I think you're winning at life already.


Also timely as Pringles (my biggest vice) have seen the error of their ways and changed their Pringles Originals recipe back to what it was after making changes!

Although I'm not overweight, crisps in general are the food I struggle to stop eating. I can open a 150g bag thinking I'll just have a few, and suddenly the bag has gone. I've tried to stop doing it, but it still happens sometimes. Unfortunately my family always has goodies on hand.

Bread is my weakness - as well as all the stuff I put on or in it - so I've just contemplated giving that up for November. That and just generally eating less shit food - especially late at night - should help!

Yeah bread is an unhelpful little bugger, so I've cut down.

It helps if you can spare time to make healthy food. I like a nice omelette with a mushroom, slice of ham and small amount of cheddar. Pretty low on calories and some protein in it.

Smoke free 26 months and vape free a year now but I’ve filled the void by eating rubbish.

Pretty much stopped drinking as well but shudder to think how big I’d be if I didn’t go to the gym as well.

I’ll be looking to lose 4 stone in total (not all in November!)

Yeah, my problem is that I simply cannot be arsed to make food. A tuna pasta is probably as far as it goes. Yesterday I literally just ate toast and bread because everyone else had eaten different stuff and I couldn't be arsed to even put something in the oven :lolol:

Oh, I did have some jaffa cakes too, actually!

Christ, I wish bread was my weakness.
Try fry ups, parmos and beer. The main motivation for me to lose weight is that the alternative is getting a firm of structural engineers in to strengthen my bedroom floor.

Seriously though, I cut alcohol out over October and depending on how reliable my scales are (the reading varies by about 5lbs depending on mood and how exactly I stand on them) I've either lost 4lbs or 9lbs without really doing anything else. Maybe slightly more exercise but not sure about that.

Yeah I'm guessing that's the main problem for most people. If we could all have a resident chef making delicious, nutritious and low calorie food for us, it would be a breeze, because the food does exist.

I'm sure a lot of people can identify with that. Instead of having toast and bread I keep cooked chicken and scotch eggs in the fridge for when I can't be bothered to do anything. The processed nature of scotch eggs is not ideal for health, but it's got protein without many calories.

I’ve never really been into crisps. Perhaps Bones bought from the corner shop by our secondary school at lunchtimes the only phase, or Kettle crisps at Xmas. Everyone else I know loves them. But we have them in the house for our ‘kids’, I started snacking on crisps in the evenings.

So for breakfast every day I have porridge, with half milk half water, a dollop of FAGE zero fat yoghurt (very healthy), raspberries, and a small amount of honey. Except this morning Mrs T decides to make bacon and eggs on toast - I mean WTF am I supposed to do? Yummy. At least the bacon had the fat cut off (I don't like fat).

I do all the 'right' things, seven days a week, have done for years including the authentic Greek yogurt (but have you read the theory on why the full fat version is preferable?). It comes easily.

Then evenings ... the demons arrive :rant: .

I think we're coming at this from different angles: you're thinking you want to win a '7lbs in November' competition, whereas I'm thinking I just want to lose a bit of fat.

If you want to win, on the 31st eat a load of carbs and salty food and drink a lot of water. You'll be enormous in the morning, but you'll be able to lose it again in a couple of days.

PS - your breakfast looks lovely. I bloody love cheese.

I’m in, quick tip for everyone glass of water with spoonful of apple cider vinegar before main meal (it tastes horrible but just down it in one)supposedly stops carbs being digested fully. Want to lose 10kg more then im going up in a Spitfire (my treat for losing 20kg)
