American Football. First watched on Ch4 in 1985, played for Brighton B52 Jnrs a few years until 1991, but I've followed it avidly every year since I was 10. Just a shame I picked a shit team to support all that time 😁

Could also put cycling in there too - been obsessed with bikes since my first Raleigh Boxer, riding it round Graffham forest on camping weekends away...through to today & my BMX / gravel / road / MTB collection

I bought my first replica shirt about age 11 from an advert in the back of Shoot/Goal magazine in around ‘76/77. An Admiral NASL California Surf shirt. I couldn’t afford any British team shirts but the American ones were cheaper. At the time I didn’t live in the uk and hadn’t discovered Brighton. My next shirt purchased was a Forest 79/80 shirt as I needed a red shirt for my house colours at boarding school in Sussex. I bought a Holland adidas shirt in 1980 as I lived in the country at the time. I wish I still had all of those, but sadly long gone now.
Despite watching the Albion since 1979 I didn’t buy my first Brighton shirt till 1994, the Admiral shirt. Since then I’ve amassed a collection of around 350 Brighton shirts, mostly matchworn examples. My oldest, so far, is a 1977 home match shirt, and I have every home shirt since then, all but 2 being match shirts. The rest of the collection includes always, thirds, fourths, goalies, specials and prototypes. In addition I have around 300 shirts of other teams ranging from Sussex non league sides to teams and countries from all over the world.
Is yours the largest collection of Brighton shirts? I'd imagine the club might not have examples of every shirt in the same way. Do you know what the oldest Brighton shirt is in existence too?

The Fatherland
This, all of it, I have been to gigs all over Europe, America, Australia, New Zealand and even Japan making life long friends all from our small little scene, it is not the most high brow style of music but brought me immense pleasure and happiness throughout my life.
I have seen some wonderful, and quite low brow, music over the years!

You should shower more often

Pornography, from finding the first tatty copy of Mayfair in a bongo bush in Woodingdean in 1974, to completing the whole of Pornhub during Covid. Managing a sex shop briefly before becoming a chartered accountant was an illuminating experience too.

There have been new trends (emergence of MILF, Hentai, reduction in public hair, in the early days some of the actresses appeared to be wearing Davy Crockett’s hat below their waist, whereas today most are plucked like chickens). There’s a lot more alan than there used to be too, tastes change I guess.
was that at the top of warren avenue?

I’ve no idea if mine’s the largest collection, I do know a couple of others who have a decent collection too.

The club are aware of my collection and have borrowed items in the past for events and photo shoots. They certainly don’t have many in their own archive, the ones you see in Dicks Bar are probably all of them from pre Amex era. That said I’ve lent them quite a few from the Amex era for photo shoots as they don’t have them.

Not sure what the oldest known shirt is, the oldest two I know are Peter Wards debut away and home shirts which he still owns. I’ve spoke to a few other past players and they’ve not kept any of their shirts.

Totally obsessed by fishing and now into my sixties, I still risk life and limb clambering down to isolated beach marks on the Island. I’ve spent a fortune on charter boat fishing over the years. I’m lucky enough to have a narrowboat and fish the canals whenever I get the chance. Can’t pass a stretch of water without checking it out.

Out of interest, and respect for doing it when just about everyone else was going with the Dolphins, but why did you choose the Browns? (At least I think you did)

Not a long standing interest but I started collecting fancy bags/luggage when I was mid to late 20s. I have built up a modest collection which now contains two Globetrotter cases, a small leather Globetrotter back pack, a Globetotter leather tote (often mistaken for a hand bag), two Mulburry manbags, a Porsche leather European style man purse and two McQueen leather wallets with chains.
My other half collects bags they all have to be stored in the dust bags worth more money that way she tells me not that she would ever sell them. I often borrow the Mulberry man bag type one when on holiday very handy.

I didn’t mean to say there is a lot more alan these days, bloody autocorrect spelling on NSC #BozzaOut
