Completely agree.

I used to live in Montpelier Road in my 20s and the house he was born in was just around the corner from me in Montpelier Terrace - It use to have a blue plaque by the front door - not sure if the plaque is still there?

There is another plaque on a wall of a house in Radicon Manor Road Hove that used to be the Sussex Arms pub that Ray Noble drank in apparently

Didn't know about the one in Radidon Manor but the one on Montpelier is still there but not really a proper blue plaque - so completely unreadable from the street. I have made enquiries about replacing it but would have to raise £1500 to do it!

The longest ‘standing’ (pursuit) I have done was quite recently at a U.S. airport where I had to stand in line queuing for 90 minutes (yes, a full football match length period of time) before I was served at the Budget Car Rental service desk to collect my car.

They then gave me a car with a broken windscreen held in by tape and charged me more than $80 for a tank of petrol when I had returned it with a full tank. A very poor / incompetent service all round.

If you are considering a car rental booking for your holiday anywhere then for your own protection I strongly recommend avoiding Budget Car Rental and Avis Car Rental (as they are the same company).

Had a similar experience with Hertz in Vancouver last year. Over an hour‘s wait. Luckily their admin was so terrible they failed to charge me the excess for the big dent I put in the door misjudging my exit from the car park (despite me reporting it etc) 🤣

Annoying my wife.

Been doing it successfully for 30 years and still going strong.

Apparently.

Does she play the offended liverwurst?

Late to this, but two stand out:
Hiking/Walking - Took it up when I was 15 or so, with short sojourns over the Downs. I continue to get out a few times a month with hikes in Gatineau Park, or - further afield - The Adirondacks.

Astronomy - Not one for gaining all the knowledge and what not - but love taking the binos out and looking up at the stars. This one has fluctuated a tad more in the frequency over the years, but still love it nonetheless.

Great hiking where you are I bet!

Very lucky to have Gatineau Park a stone's throw from my house. 361 square kilometres of conserved lands! There's a bit on the history of the park here for anyone interested: https://ncc-ccn.gc.ca/the-creation-of-gatineau-park

This is me on Lac Meech, in Gatineau Park:

And then I have the Adirondacks (pics below) 2.5hrs away in upstate NY. But there's a heck of a lot I'm still yet to explore (pics screenshotted from my Insta). Love it!

In my own strange world
Fishing, started from probably around 4 or 5 years old with my brother, Dad and uncle, going down Goring beach digging lugworm and looking for peeler crabs and prawns, first fish I ever caught was a small Bass, spent most of my school holidays growing up fishing with mates, still get a kick out of it now some 50 odd years on.

For me? Hiking. Could not live without it. Keeps me sane.

From a kid exploring the woods near our house to trips to mountain ranges and forests both UK and abroad to regular walks on the South Downs, it’s been my longest standing interest. Solo or with mates, it’s been a constant.

What about you?
Hiking for me too - although it's something I only really got into the last 6/7 years.

I've just got back from a couple of weeks in Elounda on Crete. I go out walking/hiking most days after breakfast and have developed a number of routes - most include hills and long climbs, which I love bizarrely. The climbs are worth it for the amazing views you get. The longest I did this holiday was a 14 mile out and back from my hotel to a wind farm. The other massive benefit is that despite eating and drinking much more than I do back home, I actually lost 2 lbs in weight :D And feel so much better mentally.

I'm heading back out there again next week (on my own this time - after just 8 days back at home). Once I'd spotted it was an international break and I wouldn't miss any Albion game ... I thought, why not. And without my good lady wife being with me, it means I can go out for hours on end - guilt free. I'll be hiking up a small mountain (approximately 550m) that sits behind our hotel next week. My major concern with this hike is that the rather big and angry dogs I'll be passing at one point, are safely contained in their fenced off area. I walked part of it last week and on my way back down I saw that one of the dogs was loose. He came down onto the path barking at me when he saw me - so I just carried on slowly past him. Gets the heart racing as you just don't know how they're going to react.

Anyway, a couple of pics from last week.

Hike up to the wind farm - which has amazing views across Spinalonga ...
