My sympathies to all those who journeyed to Bristol yesterday. What's the longest postponement trip you've done ? I did Worthing to Halifax in 2001.

Bristol Rovers 1978 via Seagull Special, we got to Bristol Parkway and were turned around. A 7 hour round trip without getting off the train

Was that a waterlogged pitch? If so I made the same wasted trip but by car and arrived to a deserted stadium.

happy memories...

Worthing to Hull in about 1986/87

drove in a mini - took about 7 hours - got to Hull just in time to hear on local radio that it had been called off - looked at fixtures for something else to go to and best on offer was Scunthorpe v Southend - for some reason chose to go in the home end and soon realised it was a mistake (kept very quiet...)

anyone else do that trip?

Yes, I was there for that non-event. Also got involved in a punch up on the bus back to the station.

Also 2 trips to Halifax in 2001, first time only got to London, second time was in pub near the ground when called of at 19:05.

Got all the way to St. James Park, Newcastle, December 1990, to find the game off due to snow.

I drove all the way to Burnley on a spur of the moment thing a few years back only to realise when I arrived that the game was at Withers.

Last night, It was a long day and to have it called off as late as it was left me feeling cheated but it wont stop me going back down there for the re-arranged game.

That is brilliant.

Closest I ever came was when I was working shifts and for some reason got my weekends mixed up and thought Brighton were away at Wimbledon only to later realise it was Palace at home to Pompey.

Made a weekend of it (It was a Friday night match) went to Liverpool and got on it large.

Wierd atmos in Burnley though, stayed in the Hotel where Brighton stayed when they did play up there, the barman said that the Albion Fans were some of the best they'd had even though he thought I was a dick.

HHeath to Macclesfield

Was that late 90's / Early 00's? I went up there for that one too, if it was. It was either that or Mansfield, I can never remember!:annoyed:

With Tottenham, Coventry in the F.A Cup in about 2002, when Hoddle was manager got up there the night before in a hotel, whacked teletext on and....... .

The first Halifax one, we found out it was off around Peterborough, so stayed on the train to Grantham and went to Grantham v Halifax.

Mansfield away in about Dec 1999. Walked into the pub in Mansfield at 1030 to find out the game was off. Ended up going to Hucknall v Lancaster and managed to fall off the platform at Hucknall station on to the railway line, it was a diesel line.

Mr Buck!! I shocked and appalled by your memory!! You are usually so blinking good at remember stuff.

I think you'll find it was Grantham V HASTINGS

Do you not remember the "one team in Sussex" banter we had with the 3 Hastings fan there?

Also was the day of the Grand National if memory recalls and we got a lift back into town from the Grantham chairman.

Cracking day out!
