I wonder why this SmashEDO people are focused on such a small company when there are much bigger defence companies around and EDO are just a tiny subcontractor.

The campaign seems to be really quite aggressive as well.

Because they're bullies and too scared to take on large coporations such as Thales who also produce arms AND are in Sussex !!!

They are also too stupid to understand that EDO ( or ITT ) are not doing anything illegal and that they should be protesting against GOVERNMENT policy to allow an arms trade if it's so fundamentally important to them.

Having checked out the website it appears EDO make the clips that hold missiles and bombs under the planes - I know it is related to weaponry but it seems just a tad tenuous.

The nice line on the website is that they wont stop until every EDO employee is drawing a giro.

Today ITT are one of the top ten arms suppliers of the US armed forces and are currently assisting war crimes in Afghanistan.

A UN investigation has found ‘convincing evidence’ that a US ‘counter-terror’ air strike in the Herat region of Afghanistan, using a C130 gunship, massacred over 90 civilians, including 60 children on 21 August 2008.

ITT Corporation (who own EDO MBM in Brighton) provides counter-measure and electronic jamming components (ALQ-172) for the gunship.

They clearly think counter-measure and electronic jamming kills people on the ground !!!!!

I don't like people who smash other peoples property and generally break the law. The protestors don't intimidate the compnay itself rather the workers ( who are carrying out a perfectly legal trade ).

Protest by all means but stop the violence and intimidation - oh and Smash EDO should at least grasp a basic understanding of weapons etc before posting such stupid statements on their web site !

Well I don't work in the City, but I'll be polite and just say you haven't thought hard enough.

And as an extension one of the people inconvienenced by this is my wife who has just got back from work nearly two hours late. She's a District Nurse who has to visit sick people in their homes. Her last patient is a terminal cancer sufferer who had to wait nearly two hours for pain relief, new dressings, etc. That is a real person suffering for your pointless protest.

My company supplies EDO with cleaning supplies and we have had drivers threatened when trying to deliver and we have received letters telling us it would be in our best interests to stop doing business with EDO. Look at the photos on their Myspace - strange how throwing crush barriers can be considered "peaceful", or breaking through Police lines - also ironic how many are wearing clothes that cover their face - cowardly bullies each and every one of them.
