LMA Statement

Bevan is one of Gus' chosen represenatives. I'd have said it was wise to have a football person with him.

Absolutely, take a football man and a legal man. Surely anybody in a similar situation would want to be represented in the best way possible

Maybe the statement was put out by the LMA because of the negative feeling towards Gus that the clubs statement had been generating. (possibly unintentionally, and because of wild speculation, something we'd been ask to avoid doing)

Looking at the views on the other thread on the clubs statement, many were assuming it was Gus looking to drag it out, looking to get more money, etc and all the other speculative reasons which was making him look like the villain in the whole affair, so of course he is going to get his representatives to put out a statement to try to balance things up again.

It shows you shouldn't jump to conclusions (like so many did on that thread) until you hear both sides of the story.

NSC - indulging in presumption and speculation?

Never.

Why, the have produced the docs to support their case, with 500 pages in support.......tin pot would have been on the back of a fag packet.........its called doing a thou rough job.

5 weeks on and still not closer to finding a genuine breach of contract, then demanding he be in a day or so after sending a 500 page document. Retarded.

Absolute shambles. Talk about misplaced sense of importance from Barber and the board... what the **** does Gus care about this completely pointless 'suspension', he's leaving anyway. Whoever handled this sorry episode is operating way out of their pay bracket. it could and should have been resolved weeks back with a little pragmatism, i'm sure both parties could have agreed a deal if one party (the club) hadn't tried to act tough.

So you are assuming that whatever the allegation was, it could have been properly investigated in a much shorter time frame? What if people they had to speak to about it as witnesses or whatever were away on holiday and unavailable to be interviewed? (and not necessarily those who were suspended)

Would you rather a bodged job which could lead to legal challenges and drag on for a long time through the courts or a proper investigation which takes a bit longer but reaches a proper conclusion?

If Bevan is a lawyer or not is irrelevant , if Bevan however is a representative of the LMA is totally relevant

Bevan is one of Gus' chosen represenatives. I'd have said it was wise to have a football person with him.

Absolutely, take a football man and a legal man. Surely anybody in a similar situation would want to be represented in the best way possible

I could understand a union man being present if Gus didn't fully know his rights in this, but after 5 weeks and presumably now in the hands of proper legal representatives one would think that this has gone beyond his union.

Bevan needing to being there is just window dressing.

That seeks to presume you know what the charges are, and how they're best dealt with.

Gus's team appear to be stalling. Worryingly, he doesn't seem to be acting like a man intent on starting another managerial job anytime soon.

Love to know how you came to that conclusion.

They received their case on 13 June. Before today, that's two working days to defend a case that took four weeks to put together.

It said they received it recently, no date given.

It was particularised on the 13th which I think is just a summary of the charges, which they would have already known from the initial report.

He has been on effin holiday for more than three weeks.....got back on the weekend...hearing today as he is due to return from leave.....and it says nothing about only having the doc available for one day....he could and should have made himself available sooner, but that won't feed into his delay agenda hoping the club will panic and pay him off so that prep for the season can start.

Doesn't sound like the club are handling things as well as we thought.

500 pages of appendices , this sounds more like a witch hunt. I'm not sure I feel as comfortable about this as I did ... In fact I'm not sure I want the club I've followed for 35 years acting like some faceless corporation. I've ignored the Barber/ Spurs comments .... But sounds like somebody has been building a case for a longtime. What a shame it's ended like this ...

Particularised means the particulars of the charges ie. the details. It most certainly isn't a summary.

It means they want the specifics,i.e the main points. They would have had the long winded version before the 13th.

Sorry but I work with lawyers. It doesn't mean that.

Overview of verb particularise

1. specify, particularize, particularise, specialize, specialise
(be specific about; "Could you please specify your criticism of my paper?")

It looks like the club aren't handling this as well as they would like. For heavens sake, not even abiding by your own employee handbook. That's basic stuff. As for the spin spin spin and leak leak leak going on too...

I am sure you will be accused of being one of the old guard struggling to deal with the lack of "in" with new management structure needed now by the Club - but this whole series of events looks to have been handled in a shambolic way by the club. I hope when the full story is out the club come out of it with more credit than it looks at the moment.
