If my work got someone into sideline me and basically do my job while I’m told to make myself invisible and tidy the stationary cupboard, I’d like to think I’d have the dignity to resign. Especially if I was the f***ing boss!

Truss has not integrity, dignity or self awareness. She is an empty plastic bag, being swirled around by the wind in an old car park in Barnsley that nobody uses except to let their dogs take a dump in on late night, drizzle soaked walks when they want a cigarette and a break from the wife.

She’s done. She just refuses to accept it. The mental old witch.

She reminds of the last on the shelf product in a DIY store that others have avoided because someone else had pre-opened the packaging to see what is inside.

The store have subsequently realised components are missing, the product now effectively unless the buyer sources a bespoke bolt from the Far East, far outweighing the original cost.

In desperation they have wrapped the damaged item in Sellotape and slapped a neon 50% off sticker on in hope of a quick sale.

Doctors have rounded on the health secretary, Thérèse Coffey, after she admitted to sharing prescription medicines with others, actions the British Medical Association described as both dangerous and against the law.

Coffey told civil servants in a meeting last month that she had given leftover antibiotics to a poorly friend, an admission that came as the discussion on how to alleviate pressures on struggling GPs moved on to public behaviour around antibiotics.
In a normal world, surely this would be a resigning matter. Just read about it. Stupid, irresponsible, illegal… and she’s Health Secretary! If I were Jeremy Hunt…. Sorry, Liz Truss, I’d be asking for her resignation.

Shortest PM reign of a PM who was able to even take the job with the confidence of Parliament is 119 days (George Canning). To reach that, Truss has to still be PM on 3rd January 2023.

Hmm.
I was wondering if we needed a "longest serving PM" thread to go with the longest serving manager thread

Boring comment warning:
Newton's law of gravity would probably be fine for that, unless you were planning on going via several hundred very close orbits of the Sun.
It becomes inaccurate near very massive objects like stars or black holes, hence the discrepancy in predicting Mercury's orbit over time.
To try and bring this back to the point of the thread - I'm willing to bet that Liz Truss hasn't ever formulated a theory of gravity.
I stand corrected, and thank you for the lesson.

That is f***ing insane.

I teach pharmacology at a uni in London. The first rule with antibiotics is 'finish the course' or risk resistant bacteria rising again. Not finishing the course is the single most important reason for antibiotic resistance. I was taught that in 1977. And I'm not even a medic, just a dull research academic.

Only the most complete and utterly stupid of fools would give 'left over' antibiotics to a friend.

She should literally be thrown in the sea. Unbelievable.

What's her ministeral job again?

Oh jesus H Christ. Minister of Health  That's like putting Jimmy Savile in charge of the fifth form girl's swimming lessons. :shootself

As noted above. This isn't a resigning offense. It's a 'Go directly to f***ing jail' offense.

Look if they are 'leftovers' binning them would clearly be a waste, is it not best to ask around to see if there is anyone you know that feels unwell so you can donate them? Seems sensible to me (and clearly her).

If you put it down to not knowing that would be worrying enough.

But she has a PHD in Chemistry.

Obviously a different discipline to pharmacology, but obviously someone of clear intelligence to know better.

The only logical conclusion is she couldn't give a toss if it keeps headline visits to the doctors down. Throw in a bizarre neo-liberal ideology that states patients should be free to prescribe their own drugs and not those pesky left wing GPs.

The Conservative are no more, they have taken over by a radical death cult.

On the specific subject of anti-biotics, Doctors used to dish them out like sweets because of ignorant patients asking for them. I spoke to a Clapham GP on the very subject who "offered" them to me.

I asked whether I needed anti-biotics, he replied no - but it gets you out the door.

My understanding now (if anyone knows) is there are very much better controlled.

Get this she also wants to make it legal to smoke inside a car with a child and wants to drop the smoking action plan, she is also a notorious day drinker.

The most ill suited person for a job.

first, you shouldnt have left overs, you finish the course. second you give a half or quarter course to someone, they dont clear the infection and risk resistance. and do you know its the right antibiotic for them, no adverse reactions, conflicts with other meds, dosage etc.

You shouldn't have any leftovers, you finish the course. Also, you wont kill the infection with those leftovers, so all you're doing is creating a resistance to anti-biotics, potentially making the person you shared them with more ill in the future.

A Douglas is hardly a degree ???

But still, who was the cretin who appointed a chemistry graduate as Health secretary?

That's like appointing someone as chancellor because they have a bank account.

Or someone as minister of transport because they own a bicycle (tyre repair kit).

FFS. I'm losing the will to live.

He was joking.

Still.....given that the minister for death (sorry, health) wouldn't get the joke, it was probably well worth your time mansplaining. :lolol:

It looks like it's mansplaining season tonight.

It was a joke.

Please, god, tell me it was a joke.

Scuse me, while I kiss this guy.

The world is about to end. I can feel it in my bones. I'm a boneman by the way. I can read auras using my bones. I have a small bone reader business and Truss has invested in it, with tack spayer's money.
