Done.

For the sake of everyone's sanity, I wonder if there should be two threads...

1. The Tory bashing thread
2. The Labour basing thread

...so everyone who has had enough of the same old people having the same old debates with the same old conclusions (spoiler: no-one has ever "won" and no-one has ever said "blimey Mr NSCer who blindly supports the other side - you have a valid point and have changed my mind. I'm going to move to your side now.") can easily ignore it all.

Just like the Trump bashing and Biden bashing threads. Which one will you move to “the pit”?

£ falls to its all time low against the dollar on the Asian markets, down to 1.03, though shows signs of recovery rising to 1.05 a bumpy ride ahead for our new PM and chancellor, maybe !

presumably, the plummetting pound was the main aim of the not budget

Can’t honestly say what their ultimate aims were, fiscal incompetence leading to monetary disaster is my view, it’s what you get when you allow the Tory party members to select the PM, especially when their MP’s give them such a dynamic choice of who to opt for! Total shit show which we all will have to suffer until they are unceremoniously booted out of office hopefully to allow competent adults a chance to rectify the damage they are causing. What else could we expect from a party who thought BJ was a worthy leader! then to trump that selection with an imbecile?

As someone who works for a US company that only sells in USD, going to be a bumpy ride for my customers this week / months I think. And I know for sure ‘we’ won’t be subsiding the currency drop

Pound hits an all time low on Asian markets. Are the hedge funds still shorting it?

"Krugman said a 1970s-style sterling crisis was unlikely to occur unless the Bank of England chooses to monetise the debt, rather than offsetting the fiscal stimulus with tighter monetary policy."

Why can't they just call it what it is - austerity measures, followed by selling off assets like the NHS. Job done.

Gods country fortnightly
I'd put about 40% of our fall down to the soaring USD, rest down to pork markets.

Oh good, if mods are moving threads back from the Bear pit now,

There's one over there that nobody seems to be able to present a case to argue anymore and has lots of debate about some of the reasons behind the cost of living crisis, the reasons for this Government being in power, the ongoing problems that thousands of UK businesses are having and the problems around unfinished business concerning NI, International Law and controlling British borders.

There's reports of the ongoing and new effects on Britain every single day in the press, yet nothing on the Main Board for how long ? Must be well over a year ???

So the Tories have basically trashed the economy in a little under two working days

But, y'know, Starmer's a bit dull and Diane Abbott minced her words several years ago so maybe they're as bad as each other... *dribble*

An emergency rate rise from the BOE is not out of the question.

UK 10 year gilt up again 4.11%, markets well and truly spooked

Yeah seems likely BoE will have to stick a hefty hike on interest rates, probably sending house prices tumbling in the process.

All I care about is stopping the same old same olds from dragging their political point bashing onto the football threads by any very loose connection. I thank you!

In fairness and in defence of the Tories, this isn't an overnight success, they've been working hard on it for about 12 years now. Then in 2013, they took a strategic decision to allow the country to decide how and by just how much the economy was trashed. In 2016, the country duly obliged. In 2019, the Tories truly upped the ante and decided they needed a new figurehead for their economy trashing project, in 2022 seeing that the trashing was not happening hastily enough, Mary Elizabeth Truss requested that Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson "hold my beer".

So, 2 conclusions - 1) It's unfair for you to imply that this trashing is a short term phenomenon, 2) Why can't these people use their proper names?

Absolutely, but you forgot to mention making sure your financial backers have plenty of opportunity to bet and win big at every stage
