Ambitious for what? A lust for glory?

Chelsea and Manchester United are no longer merely football clubs, they are corporate entities who have become detached from their communities, and are answerable to their shareholders - and their shareholders alone.

The leap from Brighton now to a Brighton in that state of affairs is an enormous one, and one not that many would be prepared to take without realising they would have to let go of any influence thy may have had (or at least FELT they had) at the club. A sense of influence we all fought long and hard to attain ten years ago.

Big business is simply not trusted down here.

Oh come on Al...get a reality check.

What influence have we had on the running of this club? Zilch.

When the current regime took over supporters were offered some sort of say...I understand it that the supporters club turned it down...why? On whose authority did they do so?

We pay our money, we shout and scream for the team, we go home...that is it.

Knight is in most peoples eyes a hero for saving the club and I tend to agree, but he will walk away either when Falmer is agreed/built/ opened and we will be left and new owners will come in...as sure as eggs is eggs
'Retire' I think is the word you're looking for there.

He's 67 now, and I don't think he ever envisaged being chairman for 10 years while this stadium nonsense dragged on. It would be nice to think he can hand on to someone who does have the best interests of the club at heart - and the means the ENTIRE club, including the fans.

We're just going to have to wait and see.

If the bloody thing drags on much longer, DK will be able to hand on to his grandkids

...and as for lust and glory.....TOO f***ing RIGHT.

I listen at work to people talking about their teams...going to Barcelona, going to Italy, France to watch their teams, they watch manu, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea Tottenham and the line and I am jealous as hell.

Today, my mate is going to sit in a 60,000 seater brand new stadium watching the most famous side in the world play against Arsenal.......I would gfive my right arm to be back in the "first" division watching ManU etc etc every week and that is my ambition for the club. I dont give a toss who provides the money for that......and then I hear a member of the Official Supporters club suggesting that they dont want this sort of football or these sort of owners....

Maybe that, in a nutshell, is why the Official Supporters club are a bit fat IRRELEVENCE to the vast majority of us.

You under-estimate yourself, Dave. It's also demonstrably untrue, unless you're talking about supporter representation at board level. That's something I happen to disagree with, principally because it doesn't work.

Anyhoo The Falmer For All committee, the Seagulls Party, Seagulls Over London, Ask The Club, even North Stand Chat all have some kind of say (albeit indirectly) in determining policy at the Albion. Don't scoff, we really do.

We don't have anyone at 'board level', and occasionally the club gets things horribly wrong. However, we have possibly the most approachable board in the country, with arguably the most approachable chairman in the country.

No one particular approach to any given issue is ever going to please all of the supporters, but I for one do feel as though I can put my point of view forward, and am generally satisfied that I at least feel it has been heard.

Then we will have to agree to disagree, as I feel if the board wanted to increase prices by 20% or hold a jumble sale before the kick off of every game, we would have no say in it 1 little bit.

They may be irrelevant to you but they do the litter after the match and they turned out in force to deliver Seagulls Party leaflets last August for Lord B.
This is why I commented on the first page of this thread. People are judging by comments reproduced here by hearsay and not what was actually said and yet now Liz has been tried and found guilty of not caring, churlish and unambitious.

We would have to disagree, because I would be screaming blue murder at them, and I would insist everyone else do the same, because...

I f***ing HATE JUMBLE SALES.

Seriously, we can't be privvy to all aspect of the running of the club, but on many issues, I feel the club does at least listen. Point in case, the disappointment of the West Ham tickets issue.

The club took an awful lot of heat for an issue which had been policy for 18 months, but which no-one challenged until now. Now it has been challenged, the club intend to do somthing about it. It's a small example, and were I not buggering off home in a mo, I would probably think of several more.

Of course, whether they do the right thing now is another issue, but doubtless many people have sent in not just their grief and abuse via phone, email and letter, but hopefully some constuctive suggestions which the club can work with.

paraphrasing obviously

Not exactly word for word how you reproduced them.

As I have said several times on this thread (read it back) you took them out of context.
It's the oldest trick in the book by politicians.
