If kids are getting fatter and thicker this would be a good thing ! Stubby fat fingers and low intellect would lead to a reduction of attention seeking posts and Argus blogs..... whats not to like there then ?

Kids today eh?

They get panned as all being useless louts, who hang around street corners in hoodies and robbing old ladies. But the alternative is to sit in your room, work bloody hard pass all your exams, and have as your reward .... everyone say "pah, the exams are so easy these days, you only have to write your name to get into University, blah, blah humbug."

Anyone else think we are just bashing kids from all directions these days?

Exactly, and I bet the moment you received those exam results you couldn't turn a telly or radio on, or open a newspaper without hearing the constant whinging from the previous generations of "how much easier exams are today."

Why can't we just applaud people for their achievements, why must we always look to belittle and undermine everything?

Im waiting for the results :D and yes it is frustrating after working for so long, to be told the exams today are "easy".

Oh right, didn't realise you meant you'd just done them. Good luck with them, and prepare yourself for more "they're easy these days" comments, the better you've done.

For some wretched reason that's how society is these days.

It's a catch 22, If exam results go down; must be a result of declining intellect. If exam results go up, the exams must be getting easier.

The change in the number of uni students, simple to explain. Its an artifact.

More students over all because of a bigger population = more people in Uni. Surely?

It doesn't matter what the size of the population is since the percentage has gone up. It is around 40% now.

Fair play. Was going on raw numbers.

Y'know what i love.

"Kids tests are easy these days, its their fault"

Isn't it... yoru generation that... sets our tests?

Just angry because they didn't have the technical aids we have. And why should'nt we use whats availble to us?

EDIT: thats not at HB&B or DQ

But then you could argue there are more universities now and more courses. Not to mention unlimited amount of support to get the grades you need for university. And the financial support now.

To say its easy now days is not fair or correct. It’s set up now to allow people to work their way there, and to give support to those that need it.

Much preferable to a time when only rich could go, regardless of your intellect.

Also they assess different areas to what they used to so you really cannot compare!

Er the simple fact is that exams are easier these days. I can say that as I come from a family of academics (although I have a proper job..). They and several of my friends who are teachers all agree that the general standards have declined over the last 10-15 years.

Its not the kids fault but unfortunately we live in a culture where competition and differentiation is frowned upon.

Couldn't have put that better myself.

I certainly don't envy the debt most students leave with now.

Likewise, I'm lucky as a student nurse my course is funded by the nhs and I get a monthly bursary too.

I'd not have been able to do this course otherwise.

All my housemates are going to have student loan payments til there 65!

Not for long. The Diploma programme is now being superseded by a Degree one, hence no bursaries, and nurses having to pay Student Loans on qualification.
