Options-
Train. Expensive but easy to travel on. Legroom.
Car. So convenient. But add in costs of services and parking.
Seagull Travel. Need to check where they are going from. Try and book two seats together (Father & Son). Drop off and pick up in the road almost outside Anfield. Long day so can sleep.

Singles on ST coach. No worry, most are single old men like me. During a long journey you get talking to those all around. But no one shares their sweets I've noticed.

Looking at live traffic, it's a 6+ hour drive, plus you'll want to stop a couple of times each way, there'll be stressful snarled up traffic at least a few places and the risk of a significant delay. 270ish miles each way so (assuming 40mpg average) about £80-90 in fuel alone.

The train should be a guaranteed 5 hours each way, with built in changes to get up and walk around - for the extra £25 each it's got to be worth it?

Even better than that.

Just to clarify here - Liz Costa organised the coach(es) for the Supporters' Club. Although she has retired from performing that duty, the SC is still running coaches, for instance:-

thanks for that update, i heard it had stopped. So at least 3 choices on offer for coaches. Bluesaway was best for me as it often had a Woodingdean pick up

Looks like Liz Costa option is still available. Bluesawy sometimes do Peacehaven/Rottingdean, Woodingdean pickups so that's a big benefit if you live that side of brighton

Think there is shuttle bus service before and after.
There is, departs from St. John's Gardens straight across from Lime Street (opposite the Liverpool Marriott Hotel) I think it costs £2 return. It drops and picks up at Anfield Road (turn right at the Kop End) It is usually okay going but the return journey gets very busy. But you won't wait too long

The Wigan train only stops once, generally at Warrington. It is usually around a good half an hour quicker and has never (for me anyway) been anywhere near as busy as the Euston to Lime Street train. A quick half an hour Wigan to Liverpool and Bob's your uncle, a completely stress free journey.

If this hasn’t been mentioned, grab a Friends and Family railcard (I got mine with Tesco Clubcard points - otherwise I think it’s £30), this will dramatically reduce your train ticket.

If I was to take my son we would take the train - railcard reduces it from £184 to £104 return!

Flying to Manchester when they had Gatwick routes.. If I had got a ticket for this I would have still been tempted to go to Manchester for the weekend via Heathrow then train to Liverpool on the Sat.
