As other posters have said it was the best 1st half display by BHA this season. Could have been more goals instead of the one but we did what the manager wanted - to take the game to liverpool and to cause them problems. To think our midfield of Hinch and Ayari are only 21 and both had a good game, against liverpool's experience players. Its a pain losing today but liverpool are top for a reason.

Bodes well, but really, really have to sort out dropping points against struggling teams. Been our achillies heel for far too long now and it's a shame it's continued so far again this season under yet another manager

I said at HT that I was worried because this season we’ve generally had one good half and one bad one. And 1st half we were very good. If we can learn how to string two good halves together, we’ll be flying.

End of the day, it's kinda what we expected, but I'm genuinely pissed off with our (seemingly) constant inability to retain a lead, and go on to either draw or lose.
The hard work that we put in goes to waste...time and time again.
Yes, I'm 'happy' with where we are, but by Christ we 'should' be better off.

Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.”
When the legendary Liverpool manager Bill Shankly said something very close to that, he was joking!

No shame in the result, Liverpool are an incredible side and for me are favourites for a record breaking title this season. We gave them a good game.

Our first and second strings have gone head to head with the current best team in the country and haven’t embarrassed themselves, noting in both games Liverpool were desperately running down the clock.

I would have liked to see better (inc) earlier management of the subs but that’s subjective

No scapegoats, no concerns, on to city

We did well today, not a result to be worried or ashamed about. Liverpool are playing well and being at the top of the league says it all.

The big miss today was actually James Milner. Had we had him fit to come on when the pressure ramped up, calm things down and boss the excellent youngsters into prioritising control and game management, it could have been completely different.
I'm sorry if this is an arsey comment, but I'm annoyed we got nothing from today's game after leading.......but how can we miss something that we never/rarely have?

Milner has been a sicknote with us more or less from day one, and apart from Spurs at home last season has been a complete waste of his (£70 grand per week?) cheerleader wages in my opinion

We are not bottlers just not quite there yet. I think O'Riley will make a difference and March and Pedro and Gomez and Dunk...
Pedro would have made a difference second half today. Rutter seemed to run out of puff a bit, and wasn't as good as he has been last few games - so Pedro could have come on for him second half.

We didn't have a 'bad' second half today - just not as good a second half as Liverpool had.

I thought we played really well today. Great game, even though we lost. But it seems we still have home fans in the away end!! Some bloke in our end celebrated Liverpool’s goals. WTF!!! how the hell do home fans get in the away end (and are stupid enough to show their true colours). Whoever is passing on their tickets to non Albion fans should hang their heads in shame

Jeesus, at least away fans used to hide the fact they were in the home end. I miss the days when giving them a good smack was acceptable.

What happens when that ‘tough guy’ who feels confident in numbers, meets his match?

I’ve known a few including a cousin who operated in that way, there were occasional losses the other way.

I really enjoyed our performance today. We were never going to dominate an excellent Liverpool side for 90 minutes.
I’m actually really encouraged by this week to be honest. We look very close to being a very top team.
My only frustration in both games v Liverpool has been our players inability to show a winger the line… we are after all taught this at a very young age. Do this correctly and 3 of their 5 goals wouldn’t have happened.
Happy fan here though

If you want to win at Anfield you have to turn that first half domination into a two goal lead.
Easier said than done.
The boys generally did us proud today.

No need for an apology. We're all feeling arsey. The kind of experience that Milner has either comes with the risks that come with age, or at a price that few can afford. The signing of Lallana had the same risks and was open to the same criticism, but when you hear the stories of how he insisted on standards that were much higher than the existing ones at the club and instilled that in the group, you start to realise that he was key to improvements in the players around him. Milner was signed for the same reasons and if Tony thinks that his money is well spent on having that kind of influence around his squad despite the risks, who am I to argue with the little genius?

Similarly really enjoyed those couple of games v Liverpool. A huge test, and - whilst we lost both of them, it’s clear we have some exceptional players. We’re on the right track.

The disaster of Chelsea and the first half v Spurs seems to be well and truly behind us. Obviously still work to do - need to keep up the intensity (tough as it is).

Game was lost in the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half when we couldn’t cope with them and invited pressure. First half was excellent. The only thing missing was having a shot on goal. Also worth mentioning the acoustics with the new stand. Electric atmosphere.
