Disagree - Lamptey could have come on in the higher position on the right that he did in the last two games , Kadioglu could have joined the defence in a CDM role and Enciso and Adingra could have given us speed and potential chances up the pitch in place of Ayari and a tired looking Georginio and Hinshelwood .
I also thought it was worth giving Lamptey another chance to have a go at them after his performance midweek

We are not bottlers just not quite there yet. I think O'Riley will make a difference and March and Pedro and Gomez and Dunk...
The big miss today was actually James Milner. Had we had him fit to come on when the pressure ramped up, calm things down and boss the excellent youngsters into prioritising control and game management, it could have been completely different.

An 'As It Stands' table that didn't get shown. We only got one when Liverpool were leading and all was right in the world, at which point it was deemed to be relevant.

Come on lads.

I’m Brighton through and through and I thought the ref was fine today. He generally let the play flow, wasn’t card happy, and got wise to some of our trying to win freekicks, particularly Veltman’s forward flop.

He had no bearing on the result today, and that’s my measure of a referee when we lose. We’d have lost the match just the same if it were Collina in the middle.

We squandered our chances in the first half, they came back with the crowd behind them and a chance to go/stay top, turned on the quality for the second goal, and punished us.

Like I said, good performance, ran their bollocks off, just not quite enough against a very good team. If we’d played that well against say, Ipswich, that would’ve made up for the three points difference.

Nothing due on the Europe tracker for this or the next one, relax. That was very solid today and promising for next week to get bonus points.
Sorry but that ref was far from fine today , he was a horses arse , yes i am bias but we never got a fair crack today . Alexis has picked up some bad habits at Pool and should have seen a second yellow , similar tackles from each side were met with dissimilar results from him .

Likewise, if not more so, against Wolves. He was just what we needed in the last 10 minutes of that match.

Estupinan is not good enough unfortunately as I do like him. I know that Salah is very good but you don't let him on to his left foot, end of story. He made too many mistakes today, at least in the second half.
I think he’s great, he was immense first half - kept Salah quiet for most of the game, just my opinion of course. Thought he played really well.

True, we have some incredibly talented players, but there's no substitute for having players who've been in those situations so often that they know what to do to force a change in momentum of a game, especially in centre midfield. Its not glamorous, but its such a vital skill. Lallana was excellent at it too.

Yes, that's what I was replying to but didn't do it properly. Don't remember them ever bothering to reference us being third. Quite odd that they started going on about what a great opportunity it was for Liverpool with Arsenal and City losing, when at that point it was also a pretty massive opportunity for us considering we play City next week!

Ref 100% gave Liverpool 50/50 decisions that he waved away when Albion would have been the beneficiaries in other events in the second half. Weak or influenced by Liverpool fans.

His bias influenced the result imo

As other posters have said it was the best 1st half display by BHA this season. Could have been more goals instead of the one but we did what the manager wanted - to take the game to liverpool and to cause them problems. To think our midfield of Hinch and Ayari are only 21 and both had a good game, against liverpool's experience players. Its a pain losing today but liverpool are top for a reason.
