I would have loved to have seen him get a run in the holding central midfield role. Thats where he played for Hull when he was at his best. Him being left footed made him the only other alternative for left back and left midfield (in Mickeys eyes) and he's hardly going to impress in those positions. He never got given the chance imho.

However, Gus is starting to build his own side here. I presume we will be seeing one or two loan signings before the loan window closes. As said previously, if he has been overlooked by 3 different managers he cant have been that great. Would rather he be gone than have the club pay his wages for him to sit not even on the bench!

What an absolute waste.

Seriously, this is a guy who came here with pedigree, with class and with style. But he never really settled and you know what I blame for this? Adam Virgo started last season in central midfield because there was, literally, nowhere else for Micky to fit him into the side (Hawkins seemed quite good ) and that meant a place on the bench for the man who should have been the key man in the centre of our midfield. What a shame. Micky's signings are leaving one by one. McLeod gone, Livermore gone, Davies practically gone.

Still, I say thank you for the McNulty!

Actually, I have a dwarfed snout, which is why I always frown upon the jokes about Dean Cox's size. I quite like the connotations of you saying "I ain't over til the fat bloke sings"....

He should have been. He should have been exactly the type of player our midfield was lacking, and he might have even released Thomson to do something other than disappear in the centre! I think he would have been a very good signing had he been played in the centre instead of Virgo, but he wasn't. At best, he played on the left wing. Anyone who was at Southend last season for the 2-0 win which took us top (admittedly, because we'd played a game more than anyone else!) would concur that he looked a real player that night. It's a shame both Adams and Slade were under the misguided notion that he could play at left back, because that is largely what scuppered his Albion career in my opinion. He played there, BADLY, and that was it. Slade lost his confidence in him and never used him again (Orient away in the JPT this season, at LEFT BACK again) aside.

This was always my theory of my Livermore was never fancied; some sort of clash in the dressing room.

His legs had gone. He was too slow across the middle of the pitch. He was too slow reacting to opposition attacks, and as a result made a lot of late/clumsy tackles.

In theory he should have been a good player, but he didn't have the speed or fitness. The fact Adams, Slade and Poyet all didn't rate him speaks volumes. Even the Luton manager didn't want to extend his loan.

It's a shame because he comes across as a really nice bloke. But he had to go.

Like the rest of you - I have no idea why he was not a great signing for us, clearly should have been class in this division and should have dominated the team for a good few seasons. As it turned out I am sure everyone is pleased he is gone, very sad indeed.

It is a joke that we decided not to give an experienced central midfielder who has championship pedigree a good run in centre mid in the first team. I can't remember too many of the loan players or whoever played centre mid last season but to start them instead of a player who was proven in the championship is ridiculous. Livermore was a pure professionnal and always gave it his all. He was not given a fair go at his preferred holding role, instead he was dumped out at left back. I believe from the few games we let him play last season that he is a better holding mid than navarro. It is such a shame that we let a talented player to go to waste.

To me he was never really given a proper run in the team, as some others have said. He reminds me of Alexis Nicolas, in that he came here with a big pedigree and has descended into total obscurity.
